Does anyone know where they shoot off Fireworks every Saturday night? I see them between 9 and 10pm but don’t know where there coming from.
What’s the skinny on the restaurant on E Church St across from Goodwill? Drove by today and thought I saw a sign for wine and waffle sandwiches? Sounds intriguing…
The City of Frederick has set up a website to collect public opinion about a bike sharing program in Downtown Frederick:
The City of Frederick is exploring the feasibility of implementing a bike share system. While we are still in the exploratory phase of bike sharing in Frederick, we would like to hear from you. Please use this website to learn more about the project, about bike sharing and about the possibilities that bike sharing represents for the City.
Visit to frederickbikeshare.com to read more about the program, fill out a survey, suggest bike sharing locations, and learn about bike sharing programs in other cities.
From the Frederick News-Post:
A community garden in the heart of downtown Frederick has been a dream come true for about 40 people who had grown produce on 18 plots for their families over three years.
Now, the Frederick Community Garden Association has hit a snag. The owner of the property was generous to let the association use the site for the past few years, association president Renee Bourassa said, but “he’s decided to go in another direction with the property, and that is completely understandable.”
The gardeners are looking on the sunny side.
The good news is that the association has grown considerably thanks to its dedicated members, and in many ways, has outgrown the location near 35 E. South St. behind the Black Hog restaurant, Bourassa said.
According to the Association’s blog, they are talking to property owners and also looking for suggestions. So if you know of a possible place, send it along to them.
Thanks for the heads up on this story from Renee.
Some breaking news from Jim:
Walking down E. Patrick this week I saw the display window of the Museum of Civil War Medicine EMPTY and signs posted on the window saying a new display is coming! This poor Union Army dude has been lying there in agony longer than the war itself (at least ten years). Did he live? Did he die? Any guesses? Maybe the new display will be of a limb amputation!
If you’re filling out Frederick Magazine’s 2012 Best of Frederick Ballot and are feeling generous, maybe you’d like to write-in Frederick Maryland Online as your favorite in the “Blog” category? You’ll find it last in the Arts, Entertainment, & Leisure section.
Over the weekend, I took a spur-of-the-moment road trip up to Buffalo, NY to visit a good friend of mine. She is a fitness instructor, the same one who inspired me to ask you about yoga classes a couple years ago. On this visit, she took me to one of her spinning classes, something I had never done before. Truthfully, I hated just about every second of it…until I got off the bike and felt fantastic! I think the seat comfort was mostly what the problem was. Anyways, I could immediately see how I could get into a class like this but I don’t want to have to join a gym to do it. Does anyone have any suggestions on a place that would charge by the class?
