    • I’ve gone to Mr. Tire on the Golden Mile for both my wife’s last set of tires, as well as mine. Super friendly service and prices are extremely competitive.

I also get some misc. repair/maintenance work done there as well when it’s too big of a job for me.

    • Costco…no surprise fees, free rotations, and a guarantee that we’ve used while traveling (got a flat out of state…Costco was in driving distance…totally awesome).

    • I ended up at Costco. They seemed to bet best deal. Them and walmart are the only online prices, everywhere else wants you to call or show up. Makes me think that they charge different people different prices. Why not post the price on the website

  1. I usually buy on tirerack.com and then have them shipped straight to a local certified installer. The fixed prices for each installer are listed on the tirerack website. I have gone to Foreign Auto Excellence the last couple of times I needed a mechanic and thought they were better than a lot of other places I have been, but I don’t have a long history of going there. Also, I’m not sure but the name would lead me to believe they don’t do domestic cars.

  2. On Second Street Downtown, there is a “Coming Soon” sign for “Crisafulli’s Cheese Shop”, and states that it will have artisanal cheese, charcuterie and wine.

  3. I’ve just received a letter saying that T.R. Saylor & Co., the Walkersville hardware store that’s been there for more than 100 years, is closing for good. The letter is a “special invitation” to a “Huge Retirement/Store Closing Sale,” which the letter says will run from 21 through 27 May. The letter goes on to say that the closedown sale will be announced to the general public “in the newspaper” a week later.

  4. Anyone know what happened to the brewing company/restaurant that had taken over the old Lohrs Famil Restaurant building? Jailhouse Brews or something like that? Looks like they never made it off the ground….

  5. I agree, I was at Brewers Alley last night and Mistero’s was closed. But the old bagel place that has been closed for years on South Market street just up from Carroll Creek s going to have a pizza place come into this abandoned space. Lets hope the old Asiana spot is next. This has been an eyesore for over 10 years.
