The American Heart Association’s HeartChase™ returns to Frederick on June 7, 2014. This program offers the community a creative way to explore their surroundings, have a good time and contribute to an important cause. Think of the around-town excitement The Amazing Race™ meets Minute-to-Win-It™. Be it building a literal food pyramid, learning a quick exercise routine or finding things in the community that participants never knew existed, HeartChase is loads of fun with a purpose!
HeartChase allows all participants the chance to have an adventure, without having to leave their city, and raise money to support the life-saving work of the American Heart Association. The adventure takes several teams throughout a venue where they are going to have to solve clues to complete checkpoints in the quickest time possible – to beat the other teams and be named as HeartChase champions.
“Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and many of us know someone affected by the disease,” says Tanya Wagstaff, Executive Chair for HeartChase Frederick County. “HeartChase is an innovative way to have fun while learning about healthy living. To bring cardiovascular disease rates down, we must continue the effort toward prevention. We have to work together as a community to change behavior and get active and eat healthier.”
There is more than one way to take part in the HeartChase adventure! Community members can volunteer to become part of a team that is striving to put this incredible event together; can participate in the actual race; or just contribute to worthy cause of the American Heart Association.
