  1. Does anyone know what’s being developed @ Crumland Farms? The portion of the farm along Willow Rd. has a MASSIVE construction project in full bloom. Can’t tell what it’s going to be, but it’s something big.

There are no signs indicating what’s coming.

  2. I’m looking for something fun to do on St. Patty’s Day with friends visiting….Any thoughts on the “first” Pub Crawl with the Downtown Partnership?

  3. Does anyone know what the story is on Moxie? First they are closing, then they are “reorganizing”, and now they are open occasionally. We used to enjoy their Sunday brunch. What’s the deal?

  4. I haven’t been paying enough attention when I drive on the Golden Mile, but is there any news about when what appeared to be a large Korean/international grocery store in the old Giant location might open? Super something Mart (not Super H Mart, but it looked like that sort of thing).

  5. Saturday April 6th I’m conducting a backpacking gear class for women only – those who have never backpacked and those who haven’t in many years and want to see what’s available now in terms of light weight/high tech items. As of right now it’ll be conducted in my home but I’d MUCH rather have another indoor place to have the class. I can’t really have more than 6 people in my house (space in the family room and parking) so I’d LOVE to find an indoor area where I could have 6 – 20 ladies for the class. I don’t need a kitchen or facilities like that. Just a comfortable indoor venue with chairs. I can bring my own tables. I can’t really pay more than $100 for the time we’d need – probably not more than 3 hours. We usually have a potluck meal following the class. If we had venue that had food (a restaurant banquet room?) we’d be spending our money and eating there. And if it works out really really well, we have our group’s 3 rd anniversary potluck coming up the last Saturday in April. We could pay (reasonably) for an indoor venue for that. HELP! My group is Mid-Atlantic Women Outdoors, 329 members, and you can find us on Meetup.com. We’re very worthy!

  6. Gypsy–you might give Jekyll and Hyde a call, located near Family Meal, although I’d definitely suggest eating at J&H. The food is great and they do have a room for special occasions which I would guess is only used in the evenings. Good luck!

  7. Can anyone direct me to a men’s or co-ed softball league in the area? Ideally it would play on the weekdays, Mondays or Tuesdays are best, and would be competitive but not super over the top. Thanks!

  8. More a comment than a question; but is there some city-code preventing nicer gas stations in un-congested areas on the North side of town? Not only is the selection limited, but the choices are less than ideal. The rundown Exxon at the corner of Opossumtown Pike and 15, the smallish-and overly congested Sheetz at Rosemont and 15, the super-cramped and congested GetGo at 7th and 15, and then the Exxon at Monocacy and 26.

Nicer, more spacious, chipper, and customer-friendly Gas Stations located farther out/Northbound on the aforementioned roads are needed and long-overdue. Take the Wawa at Ballenger Creek and Crestwood as an example of something that would be nice on the North-end.

    • Jeesh its just gas. Giant has a huge spacious station on 26.
Sundays lane 7-11 is not all that bad. 7th street has a pretty big BP nicely renovated.

      • Jeesh that’s exactly what the rundown gas stations are counting on; attitudes like yours. The post I made re: un-congested areas certainly isn’t resolved by the suggestion of the Giant station on 26, as that’s one of the most notoriously congested interchanges in all of Frederick.

The BP on 7th is also very close to 15.

I understand high traffic areas are ideal for businesses, hence the myriad selections immediately adjacent to route 15 at multiple exits. All of those however, as previously stated, come with heavy congestion.

      • I’d love a WaWa on the north side of town. Would make more sense than putting that one at FSK Mall, with Sheetz already on the other side…

      • And there’s a new Sheetz going in next to the Ford dealership off of 85 , as you come off of I-70 and around. So as cars come fast down that stretch of road (and they do – regardless of what they’re supposed to do, and they criss-cross fast as they decide they really need to be in the far left or far right lanes or the middle lanes) now we’ll have cars slowing suddenly to go into the station or not watching when they’re coming out of it. Just as a side note – I generally avoid using I-70 at that on/off ramp, preferring to just drive thru town. And of the main reason is the drivers racing each other thru there and criss-crossing lanes.

    • I was so excited to hear of its opening, but so underwhelmed when I went in there. They had very low, uninteresting inventory and what they had could easily be found in the bins at Wegman’s for less money. For what it’s worth, we discovered an old timey candy shop now open in downtown Gettysburg that’s quite nice and successfully accomplishes what Sweet Memories seemed to be going for.

    • I talked to one of the owners of Sweet Memories last month. She said she had been at it for several years but wasn’t making enough money to keep it going. Not surprised given what I imagine the rent must be but disappointing nonetheless.

  9. If you have not been to Philly Rabe on the 200 block of North Market, you must. Hey the Classic. Hands down the best sandwich in town (and we have some good ones here especially with Juliette’s and the Firestone’s Market). Just go.

  10. The Frederick Community Garden that was located downtown has lost their garden space this year. We are looking for a new place downtown to start getting our hands dirty. Does anyone know of a space or have a space available? All we need is a chunk of a land, we’ll do the rest. Here is a link to a recent article about us:

  12. Saw some new vendors coming to the PetSmart / Homegoods center across from Wegmans… Moe’s and Righttime Immediate Care. Elevation Burger should be open by next week across the way as well.

  13. Went downtown this morning to get a bagel from Market Bagel and Deli and they are closed. For sale sign in the window. When did this happen? I admit to not being downtown for a while but hadn’t heard a thing about this! They will be missed….
