Help a Frederick Family in Need

This is so tragic:

A community grieved Friday after a fast-moving house fire claimed the lives of two young sisters and destroyed their family’s home on a hillside outside Myersville.

Neighbors on the cul-de-sac at the end of Highland Avenue said they were deeply saddened by the deaths of the two little girls, Sophie Paige Lillard, 6, and Madigan Grace Lillard, 3. The fun-loving sisters had beautiful smiles and a zest for life, friends said.

The FNP article also lists a bunch of ways to help:

Local groups organize donations for Myersville family
The Creative Children’s Center in Myersville at 603 Main St. is accepting any and all donations from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Donation points have been set up at Jumbo’s Pumpkin Patch, Candlelight Floral Designs, Monocacy Valley Montessori and Carroll Creek Montessori schools for jackets, clothing, personal care, home goods, toys and gift cards, according to Emily Mills, who is organizing assistance for the family.

Sizes for the family are as follows:

Mother: XL-XXL 18/20 clothes, size 10 shoes

Father: clothing in M, L, XL sizes, 34/36 x 32/34 size pants; size 9.5 shoes

8-year-old girl: size 7-8 clothes, big kids size 2 shoes; prefers unisex clothing

6-month-old girl: size 3-9 month clothes

A fundraiser for the Lillard family will be held from 4 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Chick-fil-A, 5501 Urbana Pike in Frederick. Twenty-five percent of proceeds will be donated to the family. A donation box will be set up at the restaurant for those who would like to donate items to the family.

Frederick County Bank has set up a fund under Lillard Family Recovery Fund for the family. Any branch can accept donations in cash or check.

The Fit For Life Boot Camp has started a website to raise funds for the family at As of 8:40 a.m. Saturday, more than $18,000 has been raised.

Spread the word and help if you can.

  1. There are a ton of fundraisers going on. The moms group that I started is leading the efforts and has done an amazing job. We are planning a very large basket bingo and the donations are pouring in. If you have a business and would like to donate a basket or something for the raffle, please check out…

Also, I am doing a 100% fundraiser for the family through Thirty-One. All proceeds from this sale will go directly to the family. Thanks! or shop directly here:

    Thank you!!!!

  2. There is another Facebook Page dedicated just to the Lillards. It is called Lillard Family Relief, if you enter that in your search bar you can see all of the events going on on their page. There are more fundraisers going on than have been stated in previous posts on here.

    • This is the “official” planning site and expo for all things to aid the Lillards- it is being run by family designated admins. Please refer to this site for any information or to inquire about additional ways to help. We really want to keep track of all the various donations and fundraisers on the family’s behalf. Thank you!

  3. I would love to help….who do I contact to figure out what is still needed?? I don’t want to overwhelm them with items they may already have?

    • Hi all! All clothing, furniture, and other physical needs have been taken care of. We had an overwhelming response very quickly. Right now, we are focused on monetary and gift card donations. I am keeping an updated list of fundraisers and have listed them below. Also, if you know of any businesses who would be willing to donate filled baskets, gift cards, services, etc., for our huge Basket Bingo and Raffle coming up in the beginning of March, please contact me at or just scroll all the way down to click on the link to the bingo donation page. We are especially in need of some amazing, high-value items for our more expensive raffle tickets… trips, iPads, sports packages, “experiences,” and the like. But ANYTHING you can do to help would be fantastic! Thank you to everyone in this awesome community. 😀
