A press release from Key City Roller Derby:
Frederick, MD – Women from Key City Roller Derby, Frederick’s first and only flat-track roller derby team, are excited to host their first-ever home bout on October 13 at Harley Davidson/Buell of Frederick at 5722 Urbana Pike.
They will face off against members of Cumberland’s Iron Mountain Roller Girls and Rockville’s Black Eyed Suzies. The teams have been instrumental in helping KCRD get started since the league formed a
year ago, and it is a pleasure to be able to include them both in this event, which is entitled “Birthday Spankings: A Very Special Birthday Bout.”
Entry will begin at 1 p.m. but the bout begins at 2 p.m. Admission is free but please consider a $5 donation so the not-for-profit team can continue its mission of bringing roller derby to the Frederick
community. Spectators are welcome to bring their own chairs and blankets, since the bout will be held in the Harley parking lot. Refreshments will be available for sale.
The half-time show will feature Hard Swimmin’ Fish and proceeds from a raffle and bake sale will go to the Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund, which aims to bring advanced breast cancer detection technology to
Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Key City Roller Derby will be led by Coach Sin Diesel and captains Hittsburgh and Roxy Wrecks. So far this year, members of the team have traveled to Salisbury, Cumberland and Chester County, Pa. to
compete on the road and their record is 2-1.
