  1. Does anyone know when the TJ Maxx is opening where the Boarders Books was? Wonder if it will be a hybrid TJMaxx/Homegoods like in Mount Airy?

      • It is a housewares branch of TJMaxx. They sell all sorts of cooking gear, dishes, linens, furniture, carpets, paintings, decorative items, silk flower arrangements, vases, planter pots, patio items, bathwares, and more. Even some food items like spices, condiments, oils, vinegars, coffees, teas, etc. In Mt. Airy, at Twin Arches Shopping Center, there is a combined TJMaxx/Homegoods store. You can get excellent brand name housewares for far less than department store/cooking store prices. I buy almost all of our kitchenwares there. I never find much to wear on the TJMaxx side (they have precious little Petite clothing) but I can fill a cart on the Homegoods side.

  2. Yes there was flooding at target. They had a backup and it overflowed into the pharmacy and surrounding area. Wasn’t a pretty smell. They has the whole area blocked off and you could see the “fluids” on the ground pooling.

  3. I’m looking for good places to buy used kids toys. My grandson and his parents ๐Ÿ™‚ have returned from living in France and I need to stock up on toys to have on hand when they visit. He’s 18 mos old and loves toy trucks, cars, and construction equipment. Board books are good, too. He also likes riding toys. We just bought him a “cozy coupe” so he already has one of those. I’d rather not buy all brand new stuff and his mom feels the same way. I’ve already checked out Sweet Pea and at least right now they don’t have anything but of course I’ll check back now and then. The Salvation Army on East St is a disorganized mish mash of stuff and very few toys. Any place else?

      • I’ll go by there today. I’ve been in several times but wasn’t looking for toys so I don’t know what all they have.

    • Gypsy, I can give you some of these if you will just remove them from my home or let me take them to you. (Activity table, Legos up the wazoo, push car, etc.) Just let me know. (I have books too. Nostalgia aside, most of us just want to let someone else make good use of this instead of just throwing it away.)

      • Wow! I’d love to come get them! I have a Chevy van and right now the back seat is out so I have tons of hauling room. I could pick them up next Tuesday. I probably won’t need everything (he’s still too young for tiny legos, for instance) but I’d appreciate whatever else you have that he could use. They plan to expand their family soon so I’d be using them for a long time to come! ๐Ÿ™‚ How do I reach you without passing on too much personal info on this site?

      • Diana –

If you have some Legos to give away, my son (turning 6 years old next month) can’t get enough Legos and lives for them; I would love to meet you and take them off your hands.

Let me know and we can coordinate where/when to meet.

    • Try Lucy’s Consignment in Liberty Road (Frederick). I go there to look for toys first before heading to a store and buying them. All toys have been used but in great condition. Have found some excellent toys for my son that have been 80+ new in the store for around 20.00.

      • Thank you! I also learned about Encore Kids in Boonsboro today thanks to Diana. ๐Ÿ™‚ This is the best forum ever. My grandson is going to think his Grandma Turner’s house is the best ever! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I just want to let everyone know that Get Heidi Fit is hosting a FREE Zumba class tonight. It’s 80’s themed, so feel free to dress up. She’s located on the second floor of the building next to Rita’s. I believe a pawn shop is on the first floor.

Felice Fotographic will be there photographing the event. It should be an awesome time. Stop by if you’ve been wanting to try a Zumba class or you’re looking for something super fun to do tonight.

Heidi is awesome! She’s only lived in Frederick for a short time and has already gathered a huge zumba and fitness following. If you come by, stop and say hello. I’ll be the lady with the paparazzi gear on!
