    • I actually emailed Baja Fresh and they had no estimated time, but I did drive by today and saw they had the doors propped open doing work.

  1. The third RE-Flea at the Frederick Fairgrounds is this Saturday May 5th.

We are working diligently and doing LOTS of promotion to develop this venue into one that will attract quality vendors, the buying public from the region and include non profits, community events and musicians, monthly. See below for details on outdoor drive in selling starting June 9!

The Great Frederick Md Flea, RE-Flea in Building 13, quickly becoming the RE-Tique for RE-Purposed Vintage and Antiques, Home Decor, Artisan and Specialty Goods and In the Rough, Old and Picker’s Finds!

The perfect venue for micro business to develop their product, their brand and meet new clients! A perfect place for pickers and re-purposers to bring the raw or refinished home decor and furnishings, the shabby chic to sell to an extended regional buying public.

Vendor space is still available for May 5th in the indoor spaces.

  2. I am going to be in Frederick to meet some friends on Friday. We would like to eat dinner downtown. What would be the best bet for us knowing that I will have my almost 3-year old son and 11 month old daughter with us?

    • I would sugest Brewers Alley. All restaurants downtown on a friday night will be crowded, expect a wait or call ahead. Brewers would be good to accomadate the kids, the have really good pizza and burgers.

  3. The Green Turtle might serve well–it tends to be a “louder” restaurant which can be a good thing for parents. The tantrum might go unnoticed and lots of tv’s on the walls etc. Although, if you would prefer a non-chain venue without the noise of tv’s etc., as mentioned above, Brewer’s Alley is a good option too.

    • I would never take my family to the green turtle on a weekend night…..to many questionable people on that side of town……I think brewers is a great choice…… Great food and plenty of seating.

  4. What is the new construction along I70 near the airport/DMV exits? It appears as if they are widening the highway there or adding a new ramp?

    • It seems to me that I read that they are building a new on-ramp since they are closing that crazy short one off Monocacy Blvd. They’ve been working for a while on the widening of the bridge over South Street and I think it’s all related.

  5. For dinner in the downtown area with kids, i recommend firestone’s rather than brewers alley.
We go there on a regular basis with our 7, 4 and 1 year olds and they are amazing with kids.
Brewers alley can be a pain in the neck at night with kids.

  6. I have to admit – – when my daughter was visiting with her 14 mo old son and wanted to know where we could eat lunch downtown that would be child-friendly, I really couldn’t think of any place other than Brewers Alley. And I wasn’t really sure about that place as I’d never taken a young child there. We ended up at Frederick Coffee Company (great wraps!) and my grandson was able to toddle about by our table and play with some toys without disturbing anyone, and they had a high chair for him when he ate his lunch.

  7. 78 Record Collectors Roundtable

This is an informal discussion group about getting the most out of (not for) your old records. Its purpose is to make better-informed record buyers and collectors.

It is lead by Steve Smolian, a long-time collector, local dealer (he sells all kinds of records across the street at Cannon Hill Place, http://www.frecords.biz.), collection appraiser, audio preservation engineer and writer about records.

We’ve scheduled an hour of shellac record lore on the first Sunday of each month: half an hour on a particular topic, half an hour of “ask Steve.” Interactivity is greatly encouraged. Much of what we’ll be chatting about is covered on line with varying degrees of accuracy.

When: First Sunday of the month 11:AM -12:00 noon, May 6 and thereafter.

Where: Joannie’s Carroll Street Café. 124 S. Carroll St., Frederick, MD. Bring your laptop, phone, ouija board, etc. ; Joannie’s has wi-fi and, perhaps, ghosts. Great waffles are a good reason to show up, even if you hate music.

This is not the time and place to have your records appraised. If you wish to sell records, contact Steve to set up a time.

  8. In the shopping center where Best Buy is, but on the left side where Ross’ is…..something is going into one of the empty store fronts. No “coming soon” signs…..any ideas?
