    • Hi! I am looking for an intern(s) up to 2, to work with us for The RE-Flea starting May or June. College or High School Student who WANT the experience, not “has to.” Should be someone who takes initiative, can follow instructions and can think three steps ahead, but with direction, of course. There is a check list that should be followed of tasks. Specifically, want someone to 1. Hang signage as instructed, 2. Work on Set Up day to help vendors, as needed. 3. Collect visitor information on Flea Saturday and 4. Work in the lots with the lot manager on Summer Fleas, per his instructions. 5. Is flexible. 6. Is honest and on purpose. This is a non-paying internship but I will reward the individual with 1. Stuff, 2. Food, 3. Tips from the vendors he or she helps. Call me directly, please. Laurie Zook 301-332-5585 Thank you.

  2. Does anyone have any idea which companies are “at lease signing” with JBG Rosenfeld for Market Square at Frederick?

Listed are: McDonald’s, IHop, Noodle and Co, Buffalo Wild Wings, Sport and Health and Bank of America. Additionally, the article says……. “In addition to the six retailers who have already committed to the project, JBGR is at lease with several additional retailers, including two national anchor stores.”

Anyone with clues as to who?

    • Is that where Wonder Books has a warehouse? That would be a very awkward corner to access for a big store, unless you’re coming down Hwy 26 the direction of Walkersville. If you’re headed towards Walkersville then you’d have to make a left turn where the CVS is or worse yet a u-turn. The majority of the traffic is going to be coming off of Hwy 15 northbound and up 26 towards Walkersville, just like it is now for Wegmans. The double left turn lanes work for Wegmans because they’re pretty much dedicated to Clemson Corners and Market Square. But to have that much traffic trying to make a left turn to get to an awkwardly placed Target and towards a heavily residential area……….

  4. I believe Dick’s is one of the companies. Not sure on the other. I know they were talking to Kohls, JC Penney, Best Buy and Toys R Us.

  5. A craft store like AC Moore, JoAnns or Michael’s would be nice. Best Buy is closing stores around the country, so I doubt it will be them.

  7. Anyone know where to take a laptop for a quick look-over…downtown, better? Starting this morning, for some reason, I can’t get my wi-fi to work. My signal strength is coming in good, but I get no Internet. Last night the power went off briefly, but it didn’t affect my other computer. Something just won’t let me connect. Thanks.

    • I used Computer Enhancement Systems (CES) on Route 26 a number of years ago. They used to have a walk in service counter. Have no idea what they will charge. Also, Geek Squad is an alternative. Have never used them.

    • Have you power cycled your cable modem/wireless router already? Also, try the different browsers you have installed and see if it’s just the one you are using that’s affected. Last thing, create another user account and login as that person and see if it works then, as most malware/viruses will mess up your profile and break stuff, but other user accounts won’t be affected. You can then download and install malwarebytes or something to clean your computer.

      • Ian’s suggestions are very good and definitely worth a try. That will rule out your wireless being the culprit. It will also rule out your local profile. If that still fails to connect it could be a firewall setting, malware, virus. Hard to say.

Disclosure: I do PC and laptop work and work during the day in Frederick. I also run a side business for desktops, laptops, and web hosting.

    • I typically will unplug the dsl/cable modem first, and then the wireless router (if they are separate devices in your house). Then I turn on the dsl/cable modem, and then after about 30 secs or a minute, then plug the wireless router back in. After you reconnect to your wireless network, it should work. Otherwise, you would need to login to the wireless router’s admin console and check for anything obvious, or you’re back here asking for more help. 🙂

Disclosure: I am an IT guy as well, but I didn’t stay at a Holiday Inn or La Quinta last night.

      • On my PC and other laptop – when electricity goes out and comes back on- a screen will appear to type in my security password first to access the Internet. This doesn’t appear on this laptop. I think that’s the problem. The signal strength is good and is connected, but no Internet. Is there a way to completely start from scratch?

      • I don’t think so. I took it to a friend’s house earlier today and got on the net, no problem. Are we meeting up for Happy Hour soon?

      • I think he means did your wireless router get fried… in any case, go to your desktop computer and find the Gateway IP address by going to a command prompt (click Start and type in CMD and then hit Enter) and type in ipconfig and then Enter to get the IP address and Gateway IP address – usually the Gateway is 192.168.1.1 or close to that. If you try to go to go that gateway IP address in your browser on your desktop and get a username and password prompt or a basic landing page with info of your wireless device, then that’s it. Try to go to the same IP address from your laptop’s browser and see if it gets to the same page. This will tell you if the wireless is really connected/working or not. Maybe you can backup your settings in the wireless router and google the model number of your router to see how to reset it to factory defaults and either set it up from scratch again, or re-import all the settings you backed up before you reset it. Do you have a smartphone that uses the Wifi in your house to test it that way too?

      • I have a second laptop (that I’m using now) that works fine. Before I try all the above I have to explain again that every time electricity goes out and comes back on I get a screen to enter my password to get back on the Internet (both the desktop and this laptop), but I didn’t get that on the affected laptop. If I can get on the Internet at a different location, but not here at home I’m really baffled.

  8. Sounds like you are “connected” but not “authenticated” to your home wireless on the one laptop. Try deleting all of the saved settings for your home wireless network on the laptop and re-enter in all the settings. Some laptops come with their own wireless configuration programs, like Dell uses their Control Point Connection Manager or Intel Wireless stuff, you can google how to turn that off and have Windows take over the wireless connection (hint: seach for windows zero configuration) on your computer. That’s about it for me on this one without knowing more about how you have that username and password access setup on your home network… good luck!
