Open Thread Monday: March 19th Edition

These open threads provide a chance for us to chat with our neighbors. Ask questions, share news, or whatever you want. As long as it’s central to Frederick County and civil, anything goes.

Have at it in the comments!

  1. Can anyone recommend a good place for some basic alterations? Just looking for some simple nip tucks to dress pants, like hemming the length etc.

  2. Thanks to everyone for the Stone Hearth Bakery bread comments last week; wife and I loaded up on some good stuff! Store bought bread never again!

  3. Liz and I dined at Mistero. Food was good. Would have prefered a hearty bread instead of white, tasteless rolls. Saw a plate of fried calamari that looked awesome! I think we made the mistake of going on St. Patrick’s day. We sat upstairs and it was soooooooo loud! Music very loud too. It finally quieted down towards the end of our meal.

  4. Lots of survey stakes and construction activity going on in the open land along Tuscany Drive on the edge of the Whittier/Walnut Ridge community. Anyone know what’s up? I would guess home construction but maybe not?

  5. I just came across news that the Frederick Athletic Club (across from the Westview Promenade stripmall) was purchased by Fitness First. Just tossing this info out there. I have no idea if they have cleaned up that dingy old place yet, but it DOES appear that they are open already.

Due to its location, I almost joined FAC last year, but I got a ton of advice to stay FAR away, and after touring both places, I joined FF instead. The FAC location is WAY more convenient to me, so I am going to take this as good news, and I’ll try to check it out in the next week or so and report back on what I find.
