  1. The large, yellow, old house that is located right next to the I70 golf range and Triangle Motor World appears to have been sold (after many years on the market). The windows upstairs have been removed.

Anyone know what the plan is? Demolitia, new business, private homeowner???

    • I believe that entire area (including the golf course) is slated for commercial development. Likely they will be tearing that house down. It’s my understanding that Triangle is taking up part of it for a new RV dealership facility.

  2. My family is looking for a restaurant with a private room for a graduation from college party in June. Nice restaurant, around 25 people, most from out of town, preferably Italian but open to anything, preferably not downtown because of parking, but we are open to it. Any good recommendations?

    • It’s downtown, but Olives does a great job with larger parties. They also just renovated the upstairs of their building into an event space. They were waiting on some final permits from the City, so I don’t know the status on that, but the construction is complete and the space is ready to go otherwise.

    • Brewer’s Alley has an upstairs that is unique and 25 is a good size. Parking garage right behind. Was just there for a kids party. Has it’s own little bar too.

    • J&P Pizza in Spring Ridge did a nice job for us when I had my son’s birthday party there. We had a party of 18. At the time they had a back room, but that back room has now been converted into a bar. I’d call and ask if they can accommodate you. The food is great (all manner of Italian food, not just pizza) and the parking is ample because it’s in a small shopping center.

  3. As a volunteer for Hospice of Frederick County, I visit local nursing homes where I see far too many residents who have few, if any visitors. Their loneliness is palpable. I am hoping to gather a group of kind people willing to spend at least one hour a week providing companionship to these elderly, but often fascinating human beings. If you are interested, please email me at gayweeks@gmail.com. I would be happy to speak to any group–just let me know!
    Thank you so much.

  4. I passed by a small cafe/restaurant on Carrol Street and cannot remember the name of it! I think it had a woman’s name in it. Anyone know what I’m talking about? It’s near the All Saints Street intersection on the left as you’re going up the hill. Does anyone have any info on it?

    • I was at the one on Yellow Springs last night and asked the gal there about the Westview location. She did confirm it recently closed. Business hadn’t been good, she offered up that a CiCis (sp?) had opened in another part of that complex, it is very cheap pizza/buffet and thought it had taken business. I enjoyed going there before the movies and they offered a discount to them as well. Shame.
