Being that they are still setting up ‘shop’ 🙂 I thought I’d give them a shout out (Wendy, Bonnie & Cassie) and ask you to Welcome them into DTF as new business members of the Frederick Community. • The quick answer is no. There was Philly’s which was good, but it’s now closed. South Street Subs could not have been more disappointing to me since I suspected they might know what they were doing, but it turns out it’s definitely not worth a drive out of your way. I will say that while the cheesesteaks left much to be desired in terms of authenticity and taste, the hoagies were pretty good (not better than JimmyJohns or Jersey Mike’s though).

South Street Steaks in Gaithersburg started out making an authentic cheesesteak, but it has deteriorated fairly rapidly. My advice is don’t expect much from cheesesteaks around here and make do with the pizza steaks at Ledo’s or Topping’s, which taste pretty good even if they’re not the real thing.

      • I can’t for the life of me figure out why people like Jimmy John’s…if I want a bread sandwich with a hint of filling…I’ll go there…Firehouse is the bomb though!

      • Jimmy John’s fills the cold sandwich delivery niche nicely, and if you customize their smaller sandwiches, they’re quite well packed. With that said, if I’m going out to get it myself, I go elsewhere.

      • Thanks for the good overview! I think this means a drive out to King’s off the new Rt. 9 between Charles Town and Martinsburg, West Virginia for me; I was hoping for something a bit closer, but I think I’m willing to drive 45 minutes for a great cheese steak every once in a while…

  5. This is a great idea – I’m a bit surprised MORE Restaurants are not involved in this… AND/OR maybe those that are not on the list already have Healthy Choices on their menus???

  6. The old gas station on Market near Costco (in front of the Econo Lodge) is being torn down but there are materials and equipment there to build something else. Any idea what else is going in there??
