  3. In the spirit of posting events, November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month and Hospice of Frederick County is partnering with local businesses who will donate a portion of their proceeds to hospice. “I Heart Hospice of Frederick County Week” is November 7 -12. More details are on the hospice website http://hospiceoffrederick.org/

While we hope to raise money from the week, another important goal is to raise awareness of Hospice of Frederick County’s mission, so members of the community and their loved ones can face life limiting illnesses with the dignity and support our hospice provides. We need your help to spread the word about this special week, so please share the flyer on the hospice website with your friends and family! And look for us on Facebook too.

  4. I don’t know if this is news to anyone but me, but, I’ve been noticing that the Regal Cinemas down at Westview Promenade now have a theater showing movies in IMAX 3D.

    • I would be cautious before going to see an IMAX movie at a local theater before doing some research. In the past few years movie theaters such as AMC and Regal have been promoting that they have IMAX theaters, which is slightly misleading. When people think IMAX they think of those GIGANTIC screens but in a lot of cases now they are promoting theaters as being IMAX when they are only slightly larger than an average theater screen. Which would be fine but then they charge you $5 more per ticket to get a fake IMAX experience. I havent been to the Frederick Westview Regal IMAX yet, but I’m guessing that’s probably the case since a large IMAX screen would occupy a lot of space. I just looked it up on Fandango and the price for a ticket to Puss in Boots 3D in that Westeview IMAX theater is $17.50! If you have a couple of kids that is an expensive trip to the movies.

      • Yeah, the IMAX screen out at the AMC at Columbia Mall is the same — a bigger than usual screen, but, not one of those multi-story dome like ones you get at science centers and museums. I’ve been to both and for the right flick, I still find the smaller IMAX screens to be a good time…but, it is definitely good to know what you’re getting into…

      • Personally, I can’t do it. 3D makes me sea sick. I am absolutely slavishly devoted to all things Lord of the Rings. I know that Peter Jackson is filming The Hobbit movies in 3D (theonering.net) But if he decided to release them only in 3D I would not go. I cannot. It nauseates me. And I know that I am not alone in that.

      • Yeah it happens to me too. My vision isn’t perfectly stereo so I don’t really “see” 3D images I just see a slightly rounded blurry picture that makes me sick.
