Open Thread Monday: September 26th Edition

These open threads provide a chance for us to chat with our neighbors. Ask questions, share news, or whatever you want. As long as it’s central to Frederick County and civil, anything goes.

Have at it in the comments!

  1. Support cystic fibrosis research, education and care by dining at The Greene Turtle on Tuesday, Sept. 27 (TOMORROW!) from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. 10 percent of the day’s proceeds will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Please invite your friends and post to your Facebook walls. Thank you and hope to see you there!

    • Karen – I have used the cleaning authority and thought they were good most of the time. Sometimes they would miss things here and there and i think with any cleaning company if you want it all dusted – remove everything out of the way so they will. In my opinion though – with a 6mth old – something is better than nothing. I paid around 100 a week. I had to let them go just because a baby and cleaners got a tad expensive for me.

  2. Any one know where I can have my car seat inspected. I went from a small car seat with a base to a bigger convertible carseat. I still feel like I never installed it properly. I see there is one at the end of October at the Monrovia fire house, but anyone know where I can swing by and have it checked quickly and soon?

  3. Well DRAT!! We’re not getting the Gazette until Friday mornings now, so we did not know that last night’s House Hunters episode was filmed in downtown Frederick!!! I would have DVR’d it and encouraged friends and family all over the US to watch it had we known. Why wasn’t it mentioned here? No one saw a film crew following a couple around downtown? 😦

  4. From Sweet Angela’s FB page:

    Sweet Angela’s Cupcakery
It is with great pleasure that we are pleased to announce the Future GRAND OPENING of Sweet Angela’s Cupcakery store front. Location is 244 East Church Street.

Let the cupcake wars begin! 🙂

  5. I just wanted to report that my wife & I went to the Cracked Claw last night and really enjoyed it. We had been tipped off by friends who went earlier in the week that the “service was terrible, the crabs weren’t great, and there’s a reason it’s closing.” Our experience couldn’t have been more different. The place was mobbed so maybe they wereto be outstanding. I, for one, will sorely miss the Cracked Claw (I used to go there back when they were in an old house with a gravel parking lot in Montgomery County) and am sickened that a developer is getting away with tearing down a historic building to put up a Sheetz (or possibly Wawa, have heard differing reports that both amount to the same thing).

Thank you to the Cracked Claw for the years of great crabs and fun at a very fair price – a very sad end of an era.

    • You beat me to it Gypsy! Haha. Here’s the FB update posted today:
