  1. Anyone affected by last night’s mandatory power outage downtown? I was happy that my block was not included. It would have been a hot night with no fans or A.C.

    • No, the Avalon is right beside Frederick Equipment Company. It’s a small brick building near Mt. Pleasant on Rt. 26 before you get to Liberty Rd. Steak and Seafood.

  3. Has anyone else had problems with the downtown Post Office? Every time I travel and put my mail on hold (via web) I find mail in my mailbox when I return. I just returned from a week away to find my mailbox stuffed with mail that had been damaged from the rain. Any suggestions as to whom to speak to at the downtown PO?

    • You can ask to speak to the manager, but don’t expect good results. I’ve found the level of customer service to be horrible. And the post office wonders why they can’t make a profit?!? It’s no surprise…

    • In 2003, we left for 3 weeks and I specifically directed that post office to hold all of our mail until we returned and not to resume delivery until I came to the post office to pick it up. The day I went in to get it, they checked for it, came back and told me that it had already gone out for delivery. I was furious! I raced home to find a huge bin of mail sitting IN OUR DRIVEWAY, a rain storm about to break and there were checks to us in that mail!!!!!! What if we had returned later, on another day??? What if I had gone to run some other errands before going to that post office??? I remember that I had not only checked off the box about not resuming delivery until I picked it up, I had circled it a couple of times!
