    • That would be such a smart move to put one here, but sadly I don’t think that’s the case. I wish they would put one in Clemson Corner instead of Marshall’s, which I would not think is really needed here.

      • Thumbs up to Old Navy (not holding my breath that one will ever open in Frederick). Thumbs down to Marshalls, which I’ve always found to be a messy, unpleasant shopping experience (the stores I’ve been in, anyway).

      • I agree Old Navy would be fantastic! Marshalls is ok, but really stores like we see at outlet malls (Hagerstown, Gettysburg, Leesburg) would be nice! They should take a look at what those places have done as well as Chambersburg, PA they have built up a ton over the last few years

    • Man, I’d WAAAAY rather see a Chili’s come to town. Best margaritas (the Presidente) on the planet. Lived in a tiny town in SC in 2008 and THEY had a Chili’s. No reason why we can’t have one.

      • That would be cool, although I notice Chili’s seems to be closing more locations around here than they’re opening. I don’t think they fared as well as they wanted to in the greater DC area.

    • There is a banner up at Clemson Corner that a Chipolte is coming to the corner stores. Just noticed it this morning on my way to work.

      • yay! i really wish more restaurants would open – can’t wait for red robin, but they should have one on each end of the city. Would also love to see Sonic Drive-In, Cheesecake Factory, California Pizza Kitchen, P.F. Changs, Dunkin Donuts, Jason’s Deli, Noodles & Company, Corner Bakery Cafe, Einstein Bros. Bagels, The Melting Pot, another Chick-fil-a (don’t think i’ve ever driven by the one at target and there isn’t an insane line! we could use another!), White Castle, Rita’s Italian Ice, Pinkberry, Yogurt-land, In-n-Out Burger, Saladworks, etc…

      • I agree with Mair, Frederick could definitely use all of these restaurants. I would love if we could get a Noodles & Company, Cheesecake Factory and a Chili’s. There can never be too many restaurants in my opinion.

    • Too bad Chili’s won’t even try here. Our daughter lives in Reston and there is an older Chili’s there that is thriving. I think they’d do fine here if they’d try.

    • Just a heads up to Frederick Wine House – unless you’re going to match the wine and beer prices of the Wegmans in Leesburg I still won’t shop at your store just because you’re next to the grocery store. Just sayin’………

      • I should add….I have a wine rack that holds 3 cases so yes, it is worth it to me to drive down to the Leesburg Wegmans to stock up on wine. And my daughter lives in the area so I can also have a nice visit with her while I’m down there.

      • Wegman’s in Leesburg has a good beer selection too, plus you can get a glass of wine or beer in the cafe with dinner. So I’ll still be going to Leesburg as well.

  1. Chipotle banner is up on the building now. Now, onto the other rumor im hearing, the farm land next to clemson corner, across worman mill rd is potentially developing into a larger shopping center than the corner….

  2. While I’m thrilled that Wegman’s is coming (thankyouthankyouthankyou). I wish that the shopping centers that already exist in the Frederick area could be refreshed before breaking any new ground. It’s just wasteful. Chipotle is good, but how I wish it was Freebirds! (Just an Aggie dream, I suppose.)

    • I agree. I am new to the area, and although I love the idea of new stores and restaurants coming to the area, I would really love to see the current shopping centers get a (much needed) face-lift. I understand the concern with crime on the golden mile, but my feeling is.. you start to give it a facelift and bring new businesses, more people will come, and from my experience living in other cities people like to commit crimes when there aren’t a ton of people around… so the more continuous flow of new business and in turn more people could help the area. Not to mention give jobs to those who are out of work. And I’m not naive to think that there won’t be crime, but if you just let the area continue to get run down, you are just letting the criminals over take the area…

  3. It would be nice to have a different variety of restaurants in the Frederick area. It seems as though the same chains are dotted throughout the city. I’m sick of seeing the same places popping up from one end of town to the other. Where is the A&W, Sonic, Hardee’s and other great places that you see in surrounding cities? ‘Had enough of Burger King, Mac Donald’s, Roy Rogers, and such.

    • I’m with you, Rich. I’ve commented here before about a certain sameness in/around the Frederick area when it comes to chain eateries. And how we persist in having an overabundance of certain types of establishments, like pizza/sub places.

The point was driven home again recently when we were driving in Frederick with out-of town visitors. They were hungry but we were a bit short on time so we decided on fast food. They mentioned their preference for a seafood-type place & asked if there was something like a Captain D’s or Arthur Treacher’s around. And I said….well, not really, sorry. How about a fish sandwich at McDonald’s? Later, it occurred to me that I couldn’t recall seeing a Captain D’s or similar anywhere in the area (though they seem plentiful enough elsewhere) and wondered why that was….
