A guide to living, working, and playing in Frederick Maryland

Open Thread Monday: November 14th Edition

These open threads provide a chance for us to chat with our neighbors. Ask questions, share news, or whatever you want. As long as it’s central to Frederick County and civil, anything goes.

Have at it in the comments!

  1. Interesting article showcasing Voltaggio’s restaurant sprawl plans in Frederick.

  2. We love to see new restaurants come in!

  3. Rumor has it that they are looking to but the old Danielle’s…Exciting!!

  4. And heres my monthy rant against Routzahn’s. Just when i thought i had seen it all from the used car dealer of furniture, i was again reminded of the terrible marketing. Door to door employees sent to Frederick neighborhoods to pass out fliers of an “imediate disposal.” When is enough for these marketing 101 dropouts? There is no liquidation, no going out of business, no overstock and honestly, i doubt there is little current inventory on site. Just highly priced furniture that is marked down to still unreasonable prices in attempt to trick consumers into thinking they got a liquidation deal. Dont worry, ill be back next month when the wacky inflatable arm tubes are up in the parking lot.

  5. I was told that Routzahn’s is having this never-ending liquidation sale to empty their basement warehouse. Not because they are getting rid of floor merchandise or closing in any way. Seems like all the furniture stores in town are always liquidating stuff. I guess that is just normal marketing craziness for them.

  6. Are the downtown carriage rides operating this year? I have a friend coming to visit and really wanted to take her on the ghost walk but that shuts down the weekend before she arrives. So I was thinking the carriage ride would be fun.

  7. Yes Gypsy they are doing them this year but not sure of the schedule. Does anyone know when the lights on Market Street will be up??

    • It can’t be too much longer before they are lit. I think they are done putting them up.

    • I would think on Frosty Friday (day after Thanksgiving) but was at Shab Row bistro last night and the shops on Shab row/everedy square were already lit up!
