The Earth and Space Science Laboratory (ESSL), located next to Lincoln Elementary School, has information on its website for Summer Planetarium shows which begin on June 29th and run through August 5th.  Cost is $4.00/person if you buy your ticket at the door.  Buying on-line costs an additional dollar.

Also, I got this email from Find Out First, (the FCPS website that emails you information about happenings within the public school system) regarding summer camps at the Earth and Space Science Laboratory:

REACH FOR THE STARS: Students entering grades 4–6 in August may apply for camp taking place July 19-22: 9-11:30 AM. 70 includes hands-on science using the planetarium, arboretum, telescope, aquariums and weather station. Limit: 15 students.

You can find the links to register your kids in the left sidebar of the ESSL website.

Are these star shows popular with adults or are they aimed at young kids? My son is 23, enjoys astronomy and we’ve talked about going to these but not if it’s something that is mostly for little kids and the only adults there are their parents.

I’m pretty sure it’s for all ages. There isn’t much info on the site about the shows, but I noticed they had a couple trailers under the “planetarium shows” that look pretty cool. One is obviously for young kids.

    Hi:

I have been watching frederickmarylandonline.com as a lurker for some time now.
I thought that I will get involved and socialize with the other users here.
I’m expecting to meet a lot of enlightening individuals and learn some good stuff.

I’m hoping this is not in an inappropriate section. Please forgive my offence if “http://frederick.shoutem.com/” is inappropriate.
