Weekend Bargains

2009 September 26
by Guy

This weekend there are two deals to be had, one for a good cause, the other is tied to some bad news.

First the bad, the Blockbuster off of Route 26 is going out of business and selling all of their DVDs and games. Sad news for them, but good for you. My wife and son scooped up six kid’s DVDs for 20 bucks. Thanks for the scoop Amanda.

Now the good, the Friends of the Urbana Library is hosting a used book sale this weekend. I stopped by after my son’s soccer game and picked-up 6 books for 4 bucks.

Go forth and bargain!

The Blockbuster on Route 40 and in Spring Ridge is going out of Business too….they all have DVD’s on Sale for good Prices. I was told by the Mgr of the one on Route 40 that all the Blockbusters in Frederick County are going out of Business except the one in Thurmont.

Blockbuster on Ballenger Creek (@ Crestwood Blvd) also has the same sign up.

Looks like I’m in the shrinking minority but I’m going to miss my visits to the neighborhood Blockbuster to pick out a DVD or two for the weekend. It’s obviously just a matter of time for the remaining Blockbusters.

I live in Damascus and the Damascus Blockbuster has already closed. The fallback for us became the Blockbuster in Milestone Center (Germantown). No “Closing” sign there yet, but something soon wouldn’t surprise me. After that I guess we’ll be going the Netflix route.
