Accessories of Old is an “amazing vintage emporium” and according to their blog they will making Frederick their new home …
Accessories of Old are moving to Frederick.. we are going to have a bigger storefront and so will be able to showcase more of our goodies… oh and we will be right next door Tiara Day….
The address is 153 N Market Street and we will be open to trade from second week of October… until then we are still located at our Bethesda location.
Thanks for the tip Morag!

I bet that’s the old British Imports store.
I think you’re right. I was thinking it might be the old Connie’s store (yes I still think of it as Connie’s). I adore this store and will be a frequent visitor.
Walked into Tiara Day today while wandering Frederick with Chopper the super dog and his handler, Mike (bf). Bright, airy. Doesn’t even look like the same store. They carry jewelry, some vintage clothes, furniture, soaps. The proprietor tells me she has gotten alot of comments about how big the place looks. They even have a side door that opens onto W2nd Street. Never saw that when it was Joes, guess it was behind the wine or the humidor. Nice place, hope she does well. Funny Mike and I were just talking about the fact that the old Venus on the Half Shell was still empty. It will be nice to see that place have something in it again. Now if they could just do something with the Chinese Restaurant that’s been empty for the 4-1/2 years I have been in town!!!
actually the Chinese Restaurant has been empty closer to 20 years…. when first moved here heard rumors about prostitution, drugs, etc there. don’t remember details nor need to… but it is weird how one storefront can stay empty for years, with no real discussion in media or elsewhere. i wonder how the landlord does it? just takes a depreciation? bizarre right?
Stopped into Tiara Day this weekend and it is SUPER cute… very vintage and girly. The store owner was very nice… the shop is dog friendly (yay!) and they said they moved from Emmitsburg or Eldersburg, can’t remember which. Anyway, a very cute place.
Acutally the Japanese Restaurant next to Acacia (used to be the Province) was occupied in and around 1999 or 2000-01, there was a restaurant in there for about a year with a buffett and everything. It was closed abruptly when it was found that 1/2 the workers that were there were illegally in the U.S. There was nothing in there prior for over 10 years, (prior to me coming to Frederick) and nothing since. The place is owned by the same lady that has numerous clogged up store fronts between 3rd and 4th Streets.
The “old” Venus on the 1/2 was up the street some, I forget the address and then moved a few doors up from where Tiara Day is now (the corner store). The first Cigar Store was a few doors up(and that is what we called it, “the Cigar Store”) until Joe took it over and moved it to the very corner, (and has now moved it again). So the cigar place has moved (3 x’s) from the mid-90′s until now…prior to ’94, I dunno.
Connie’s was a big formal dress store which is across the street from Tiara Day and is where Social Studies and “the other hip over-priced” clothing store for girls is now- (2) stores occupy the old Connie’s place. It sat right across the street from the “Deli” which is now the knives, puzzles and whatever else store.
Awwww… good ol’ Connies! They had the best Mannequins.
