Dinner last night was very good! Tony and I dined with friends Vanessa and Eddie. I posted photos with a brief description of our dishes.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/10583103@N03/sets/72157622285346767/

Dinner for four with one appetizer (the pork boudin balls), one cup of soup (Tony ordered a creamy corn chowder that was wonderful = I told the waitress the chef needs to put the chowder on the menu as a regular item - she had told us he normally does not do soups), four entrees, and two coffees came to $65. We brought our own beer and wine, which helped our wallet. Not sure when the restaurant will get their liquor license.

The restaurant was empty except for a few other couples. Our waitress thought maybe because it was the first day of the Frederick fair.

The food was very good and cooked well (meats were not dry but juicy and tender), portions large but we ate everything. Sides included scalloped potatoes, green beans, a vinegar based coleslaw, and other choices. We skipped the dessert. The menu is limited to about 4 appetizers, 6-7 entrees, two specials last night, and 3-4 choices in dessert.

We'll definitely be going back.

These guys are great. I know the owners personally and have helped them cater a few larger events in the past (they do weddings and holiday parties mostly)...the food is amazing and the portions huge!

I'll assume it's a play on words, which is why I thought it so catchy.

“Country Food with a Flare at Country Prices”...do you suppose that's a play on the word "Flair"? FLARE for the flaring up of a BBQ fire? Or did they simply not know the difference between the two words?
