VOLT participating in Restaurant Week
2009 August 25
Sorry this is a day late and I’m not even sure if there are any reservations left, but once again, Frederick’s own VOLT Restaurant is participating in DC’s Restaurant Week. This is a great chance to try VOLT if you haven’t already. Prices for a three course meal are $20.09 for lunch and $35.09 for dinner.
Here is the lunch menu and the dinner menu.

They’re booked through the 2nd. Too bad!
My boyfriend surprised me with reservations last night. It was incredible! I was really impressed that they kept all the special extra touches and the service was wonderful even though we were ordering off the restaurant week menu. We go there on the early side (6 o’clock) but the dining room quickly filled up. I was definitely grateful for the chance to try such a special restaurant without breaking the bank.
That’s great Lauren! What did you order?
Between the two of us we had corn chowder and shrimp for a first course, we each had pork belly for the second, the flat iron and pork tenderloin third course, and then the peach tartin and chocolate desserts. Not to mention tuna canapes that I’m still dreaming about, fresh dinner rolls, donut holes, and mini-poundcakes to take home. I’d heard about all these things when you order off the main menu but I wasn’t sure they’d be included for restaurant week.
And then we went home and watched Bryan kill it on Top Chef
At the last minute on Sunday evening, we decided to go & try the Restaurant Week menu. It was awesome!!! We each picked different items and shared. The meal started with an Amuse Bouche – OMG! It was a beet macaroon filed with a Foie Gras mousse. We could of eaten a whole plate full. I believe my husband’s exact words were You Can’t Do That! To start, we tried the Corn Chowder & the Laughing Bird Shrimp, then second course was the Goat Cheese Ravioli & Poached Shrimp (we requested the Sweetbreads, but it was sold out) and finally the Pork tenderloin & the Beef flat iron. We are huge fans of goat cheese, so when I saw the ravioli on the menu it was a no brainer. The fresh summer corn in the chowder & ravioli was so fresh & sweet, it was like heaven. The laughing bird shrimp had a cucumber sorbet that was mind blowing. The beef was cooked to perfection served with the creamiest polenta ever. The pork tend. was cooked perfectly – medium and had a peppery coating that went great with the wine the bartender recommended. I just wished I wrote down the name of the wine. C’est la vie!
