Things that go boom!
The Fourth of July is right around the corner and I wanted to query the collective mind of FMO to see where you all watch fireworks in Frederick. We usually go to the top of Frederick Memorial Hospital‘s parking deck and watch the ones in Baker Park, but I have heard there are other fireworks displays in the county. For example, doesn’t Middletown do their own?
Do any of you shun the big show in Baker Park to check out other fireworks fun around the county? I’d be interested to hear how they are? We were thinking of trying a new venue this year to get our annual fix of things that go boom.

This will be our first fourth in Frederick (talk about an alliteration!). We live downtown so will probably walk on over to Baker Park (huge plus that we won’t have to drive and park somewhere!).
I’d love to hear more tips though about the best places to view them! What about on top of the public parking decks?
Speaking of the parking decks there is free parking on them on the 4th.
Middletown does do fireworks, but they do them the Saturday before the 4th so they were last weekend.
The tops of various parking decks are good places to watch the fireworks. If you can, try to come into Frederick from the South St. side and park somewhere over on that side of Market St. because it’s much easier to escape afterward.
Do a lot of people go to the FMH parking deck?
There are usually a couple hundred people, but the top of the deck is always empty so it’s no problem to bring a chair and watch the show. Only the very lowest fireworks are not visible, but for the most part you see the whole show and get out w/out much traffic.
What a good idea to go to the FMH deck! We might see you there.
Considering this is our first 4th in Frederick, we had no idea where to sit. Thank you for the suggestions. If you see (or hear) a screaming red head on the deck of FMH, it’s not us…
