Why do you blog?
I have been invited to speak at the Bookfest celebration this weekend. I will be speaking about the reasons I blog here and on FMO and my other blog.
The main question I will try to answer is what are the reasons someone would want to write a blog? I know why I do it, but I wanted to get some others people’s ideas on the topic to share during my talk.
So why do you blog? Answer in the comments or shoot me an email.

I blog mostly as a creative outlet. I kept a journal growing up, and my blog is kind of an extension of that. I can look back through it and it helps me keep track of things that happened in my life because I’m not organized enough to do scrapbooks, photo albums, baby books etc.
Also, as a Stay at home mom it gives me a link to the outside world and it helps me keep my sense of humor. I get a kick out of it when one of my 5 or so readers mentions that they read one of my posts and enjoyed it
Blogging makes us feel important.
For me, it’s an outlet. I’m also a Stay at Home Mom and it’s nice to get on after a bad day and vent and have almost immediate feedback that other parents are going through the same thing.
I am also using the blog for more personal outlets, such as my weight loss journey and practicing my photography skills.
It has helped me get to know people from all over the country, too, which is cool.
When you blog about any personal goal progress, it really encourages you to stick to it.
Very cool Guy!
I blog to help stimulate Frederick’s social scene. It’s also great incentive for me to keep up to date on everything that’s going on around town, so I don’t miss out on any good events.
I’m so excited that Frederick is jumping all over the web-based services. It’s like most of all downtown businesses are on Twitter and have blogs.
I blog because I have hobbies, because I like to write, and because I want to connect to people. Blogs are a great interesection of these things. It’s also nice after blogging for a while because there is a body of work that stands for itself.
I blog because I have fun swapping stories with other parents out there. Blogging is such a fun, creative way to share your experiences and thoughts with others.
I blog because it is a great therapeutic outlet! Mu music blogs let me share my passion for music and my Weblog serves as an outlet for anything and everything else. I love it.

I blog for several reasons. One is just like many of the others here – it is a great outlet to formulate and share your thoughts with others. Second I blog a lot about Twitter because I have found it helps new people get acclimated to this wonderful social media platform. It is very gratifying when I share my experiences and other people can learn from my mistakes. Thirdly I blog to promote my two passions, Kids Are Heroes and Wags for Hope. For all you bloggers out there that are not taking advantage of Twitter I highly recommend it. My reader count went way up and continues to as my followers grow and I am consistently getting comments on my blog.
Thank you all for your comments! This helping me put together what I hope to be an interesting talk.
Reading blogs keeps me hyper-informed. Writing one gives me an opportunity to possibly entertain people as well as possibly offend them too. After all it’s all for the kids.
So Guy, how did your talk go?
Actually the talk went pretty well. I only had a few people in Thurmont (which has a beautiful new library, btw) but it was really cool to talk about blogging. A little more about the presentation is here.
