New downtown restaurants
I was walking downtown at lunch time on Wednesday and noticed a sign I hadn’t seen before. It was on the door right next to Starbucks in the same building that houses the Bodega at the corner of Market and E. Church streets. The door is on the Market Street side of the building and the sign says “Coming Soon, The Cellar Door Cafe and Bistro” (I’m pretty sure that was the name). If anyone knows anything about this place, please leave a comment.
The FNP has an update on their website that a new restaurant called Micallies will open next year at 46 S. Market Street in the building that’s on the corner of Carroll Creek and Market Street.
The building offers 3,600 square feet inside and about the same space outside, Muren said. The decor will fit with downtown, combining the historic architecture with upscale American cuisine.
The interior will feature exposed brick and antique wood floors, divided into a dining room and a bar room, with seating for about 120 .
“You will be able to get a cheeseburger or a steak,” Muren said.
The outside will also seat about 120 at creekside, and patrons will be able to enjoy food and beverages while watching activities along the waterway.

The Cellar Door will be a stylish, atmospheric dining spot offering fine food and more of a cozy, romantic atmosphere than is found in most any other of our downtown area thus far. The owner, Richard Belles currently has the Bodega Beer, Deli & Carryout downstairs from where the Cellar Door restaurant is to open. (Good food there at a fair price!)
You will want to watch for the Cellar Door to open in the next two months, and the word is that it will be the place to BE, according to Belles. The entrance is next to Starbucks and across from Tasting Room. Great Location, I hope it will do really well. I also hear that Belles’s on the East end of town has been renovated. That has to be a good thing!
Thanks for the info Annie. Sounds like it’s going to be a cool place! I’ll be watching for it.
