Dylan & Willie & Mellencamp
It may be a rumor, but I heard from a reliable source that the Key’s stadium authority will be hosting another blockbuster concert in August: John Cougar-Mellancamp, Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan.
I didn’t get the exact date, but I know it’s going to be in August and this time the stage will be pushed all of the way out to the center field wall. I also heard that Sky Boxes are up for sale at 2X whatever the final ticket price will be. You’ll have to purchase the whole Sky Box with 18 tickets. The Stadium is handling all ticket sales and they won’t be available through Ticketmaster.
It may be worth it to try and book one for FMO only? It will be nice to have AC available, that’s for certain.

My significant other and I would definitely be interested in going–hope it’s not a rumor!
Liz, this is amazing news! I really do hope your source turns out to be right. BTW, I spread the leak here: http://fredrocks.ning.com/profiles/blogs/rumor-john-cougarmellancamp
It would also be nice to have someplace to go inside when Dylan gets on stage. Hang it up, old man.
I think it sounds very cool!!!!!! Three legends right here in Frederick!!! Willie Nelson judged my mother, Vicki, when she won the Apple Blossom Music contest back in the mid 60′s.
I like the line-up. Too bad the stage may be pushed all the way out to the wall. We sat in the Key’s Club for the last 2 concerts there. When the bands are pushed all the way out, it is very difficult to see them from the skyboxes. I can imagine why they’d do it, but hopefully it is just a rumor.
JJP, thx. for your comment re the poor view of the performers from the skyboxes when the stage is pushed all the way out. This confirms my concern about skybox seating…I’m going to think twice about paying more for a worse view.
By the way, per Mellencamp’s own website, it’s no rumor that he’s planning on playing at minor league ballparks with two other “name” performers in July-August. Other websites name those two performers as Dylan and Nelson. I suspect the main question is whether something is worked out successfully with the Keys for a show at Grove Stadium.
I’m a 20 year old… and I LOVE Bob Dylan! I cannot wait. So excited.
Get ready to be disappointed. I know a number of people who’ve been to see Dylan in recent years and said that the show was awful and it was sad to see what such a legend has reduced to.
Now Willie, that should be awesome.
keeping my fingers crossed that this is true, what a fun time this would be! as a city resident , good use of the field if Keys are playing, they should try to more of these types of things
three over-played has-beens…
While I admittedly am not overly thrilled about hearing Dylan (IMHO he should have stuck to songwriting), Mellencamp is far from a has-been as a performer. So many of his songs still sound great to me and others in my age group:). As for Nelson, as long as he does a decent rendition of “Always on My Mind,” anything else will be gravy. From what I’ve seen, his performances lately don’t strike me as all that different from what I recall from 25 years ago.
FMO Skybox? Hmmm…..
NEWSFLASH: According to what the Keys just told my company’s employee club, which had been looking into getting tickets (or even skybox) to this concert:
The Dylan/Nelson/Mellencamp show at Grove Stadium is a NO-GO.(Probably due to the desire of Dylan’s representatives to “protect” his planned show in the DC area as part of a Fall tour.)
Sorry, everyone!
