April 2009 Events in Frederick County
I don’t know about you, but it seems like March just flew by to me. Here we are almost to April already so that means it’s time for a round-up of events I’ve found out about that will be going on in April. As always, feel free to add anything I’ve missed in the comments.
Every weekend in April, the Maryland Ensemble Theatre presents an original play called Exuviae.
The MET Ensemble explores domestic violence through compelling movement and text, celebrating the survivors who struggle to shed layers of fear, humiliation and isolation.
On Fridays and Saturdays all month, enjoy live music at Frederick Cellars.
First Saturday, April 4th, has the theme of Much Ado About Books.
Explore the wonderful world of reading in Downtown Frederick! Express yourself at the Wondrous Words literary station, visit the Shakespeare Garden and meet adored characters from literature including the Cat in the Hat and the Velveteen Rabbit. Also enjoy gallery openings, guest artists, and live entertainment as you shop, dine at the many independently owned and operated stores and restaurants in historic Downtown Frederick from 5 – 9pm.
Take a Spirit Tour every Friday evening at the Schifferstadt Museum.
Enjoy improv and sketch comedy from the Comedy Pigs on April 11th and 18th.
Easter is April 12th.
The Frederick Keys have their opening night on April 17th. Tickets are available for purchase now.
Spring into Sunday at Linganore Winecellars on the 5th, 19th( Reggae!) and 26th.

Thank you for mentioning “Exuviae”. I’m a member of the cast, as well as The MET. The journey we took to create this original show was, in all seriousness, life changing. Until we started researching domestic violence, and talking with members of our community that are involved with it day-to-day, I don’t think we realized how little we understood about the subject matter, and just how complicated it is.
Oh….and did I mention that we juxtapose it with images from the insect world? Needless to say, it’s a very interesting piece (and such an honor to be a part of!)
One audience member described it as “an emotional ballet”.
I hope you can all make it out to one of our shows, and please pass the word on.
That last comment made me stop and realize that I really should get out to this show. And I am not someone who has ever before found time to check out local theater. I had no idea that it was such a serious production and now I look forward to experiencing it. Thanks for your info.
And Orthodox Easter is April 19th.
