Hagan’s Tavern for sale
I’m working on a post for Easter menus and came across this Frederick.com website for John Hagan’s Tavern that announces that the owner is retiring and the restaurant is for sale.

It looks like another locally owned restaurant is going through a change. Hopefully someone will buy it and keep it running so that it doesn’t have to close like Freez King, G. Hunter’s and Mealey’s did.

Wow! Hagan’s has been there forever! It’s a shame to think it may be something else soon. Lovely place for a special dinner…sigh.
Truthfully, I’ve never been. Sad to say, I keep forgetting about Hagan’s Tavern. I guess I had better get there soon.
According to the Frederick News Post, Mike Tauraso, owner of The Tasting Room and Black Hog, has puchased the Freeze King property. Hopefully that means good things! http://www.fredericknewspost.com/sections/news/display.htm?StoryID=87698
I understand he will be using the site to smoke the meats for Black Hog. According to his staff there.
Annie, wow from ice cream to smoking meat. What a change! I am going to miss Freeze King, it was a little bit of Americana and frankly a lot less expensive than other places. Time well tell I guess….
Oops, the email address I left was off by one character.
Has anyone got an idea what Hagan’s Tavern owner is asking for the business? Just curious.
Looks like Hagan’s Tavern to close Sunday
Yeah, that’s too bad. Hopefully someone else will buy the place but I have a feeling it may sit there empty for a while.
Wow, just now noticed the post about Hagan’s Tavern closing.
ANOTHER unique, locally owned place with some history and flair has itself become history. Depressing.
I never got there, though we’d talked about going on a special occasion…wish I had. Needless to say, in this day and time, you can never take for granted that an old (or not-so-old) standby will still be there when you finally decide to go.
We went so often – every year for my birthday because I loved the seafood bisque. One year I was ill and didn’t feel like going so my husband went up there and got the soup to go. Our son had his prom dinner there. We took guests there when they were visiting from out of state. We are truly heartbroken to see it closed.
