That intersection scares the crap out of me at certain times of the day. Especially when I was teaching my oldest to drive and now the younger one has her learner's permit. They should have done something about that intersection before they started building. Route 80 and Big Woods Road/Ijamsville Road intersection (it just said "safety improvements"). However, what they are going to do is put a traffic light in there, widening MD 80 to include left and right turn lanes in both directions. The project bid about a month ago, so I'm guessing it should be starting soon. Seems like every new shopping center comes complete with a dry cleaners, pizza place, Rite Aid or CVS, bank, and at least one artery-clogging, fast-food/specialty food kind of place, whether the surrounding community needs them or not. (Re Fractured Prune: I only drive through Urbana occasionally, but isn't there already a Dunkin' Donuts in the vicinity?) Wouldn't it have been great if, say, a Trader Joes was scheduled to be included? I know.....I'm dreaming. Basically I wanted to make a list of cheap eats for each day of the week. For example, kids eat free at Barley & Hops on Tuesday (i think). So the end product would be a list of dining deals organized by day of week. So if you are going out you can check the list first to see if you can get a bargain. Any thoughts?
