CineGraphics Studios is moving
I’ve heard a few concerns about the fact that CineGraphics Studios is no longer there in their S. Market Street location. Rest assured that they are once again on the move. Rumor has it that they are relocating to the old Victorian Spirits store (the big purple store, formerly a liquor store) at the corner of 4th and Market. From what I hear, they are reopening in April.
By the way, the British Import Store is also on the move. They are relocating to the old Market St. Cafe location at 14 N. Market St.
Don’t forget that you can still get to the FMO Talk forum by clicking the link to “forum” on the right side bar, under the “Follow” header.

That’s gotta be his fifth move.
I figured they closed after Bush left office. All they sold were Bush bashing products.
Now he can sell Rush-bashing products. He just needs a bit of whiteout, and … voila … instant, timely inventory!
I spoke to Eric and he did tell me he was moving up on Market Street and would reopen in April. However, he did not tell me where on Market Street.
I think the new location is on Market between 2nd & 3rd, near Retro-Metro.
I’ve always wonderd what the British Import Store sells… but never made it in there since it looks too much like a liquorstore…
Does anyone know?
We shop there for wine and beer. They also have other European cookies/candies and snacks. And of course, cigars.
The wine selection is a little on the small side, but they’ve been promising us it will get larger now that they’ve moved.
We went there last night and it looks pretty good, still doing a lot of work, but they’re open.
Annette, here’s their website:

Also, I see that the Lipstick & Spurs cowgirl boutique has moved around the corner from West Patrick to a bigger space on North Market.
Thanks for mentioning that Stephen.
The corner of Market and 4th will be challenging, I fear. Historically, it’s been a place that gets not a lot of foot traffic, especially from tourists.
I’m not positive that is the new location…just a rumor I heard. We shall see soon!
thanks for posting thank link lizfrog! i’m excited now. i never knew!
The new shop will be at 401 North Market, and we will be changing the name…
It will be the first time something other than a liquor store has been on that corner since 1886.
We will be less family friendly/more edgy…something to compliment the surrounding tattoo parlors, headshops and our quaint dildo emporium.
We plan on passing out maps downtown to guide folks past the “forgotten men” outside the Ol’ watering hole, and venture into the hipper North Side.
We are hoping to have some outdoor movie screenings/block parties this summer, with TCP grilling late-night munchies.
This will be our 4th location in 5 years…
The landlords of Frederick are either lawyers or yokels like the “dragon lady”
I wouldn’t advise ANYONE to open a new business downtown, until the city gets some balls and start condemning buildings that are not brought up to SOME sort of code. One city inspector REFUSED to go into an attic and check the leaky roof unless I could guarantee his safety!
Leaky roofs, ancient wiring, asbestos, rotting wood, toxic-mold and mildew is pretty common…..and that’s in the NICER buildings!
When I told one landlord that the building had mice, he replied, “Get a Cat!!”
Once you fix a place up, you can expect your rent to be raised as well….
Rents have TRIPLED for some spots.
To top it off, you have property owners who REFUSE to rent to ANYONE.
It seems that they’d rather keep the place vacant, and take the loss.
Read your lease!
Some landlords will have you paying the utility bills for the ENTIRE building even though you have the smallest space out of all of the tenants.
These buildings are FAR from being green.
They are leaky, drafty….expensive as ______ to heat & cool.
These buildings are LOADED with outdated heating & cooling systems and they lack proper insulation, if they have any at all.
You can’t turn a profit when your utility bills are killing you!
The leases written by those landlords who are ALSO attorneys are the absolute worse! You have to pay an attorney just to realize that you KNOW your gonna end up getting SCREWED by this guy, but you have no choice but to let him!
One landlord charged me $400 to replace a sink and then NEVER replaced it.
He just put a plastic cap where the sink supposedly once stood.
Another landlord refused to take his shit out of the building and stored it in a rather large back-room and locked it with 4 padlocks.
He was occupying a substantial part of my leased premises.
Until city hall grows a pair of balls, and forces some sort occupancy standards that address the building’s condition, this sort of crap will continue to hold downtown down, and keep it from becoming the jewel it COULD be.
But Eric, how do you REALLY feel about city hall?
Eric, hopefully this new location will be the perfect fit for you and that you can stay put for many years to come. Wanna scoop the media and give us the new name here? I applaud you for not putting up with bad landlords and calling attention to the problems the downtown merchants face. I wish you well in your new location and hope that the north end of Market gets more attention for your business and TCP and Cafe 611 and all others who plan to extend the fun up north.
Eric,
You know me and Mike will be there on your opening…..if you need help and we can spare any, we will certainly lend a hand. (Providing the soda machine is empty and Zoltan isn’t part of the deal!!! LOL) Totally looking forward to your new shop……
The new name is:
Mondo Gonzo
Thanks for the scoop Eric!
I love it!!!!
