New pet adoption program begins today
The Frederick County Government website has a link to a press release about a new animal adoption program that will air on cable channel 19, the channel for the County Government. The program is called “Pet Pals”.
“Pet Pals,” a new program featuring Frederick County Animal Control Division staff and volunteers, will debut tonight at 6 p.m. on Frederick County Government (FCG) cable channel 19.
Humane Educator Linda Shea of the Animal Control adoption center will host the show, which will air at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily. New shows will debut every Tuesday at 6 p.m.
“Pet Pals” will highlight 10 animals available for adoption every week. The program will also include segments on animal tips, the adoption process, insight from animal control officers, how to select the right pet, emergency awareness, vaccinations, the spay/neutering clinic, licensing and other related subjects.
Division Director Harold Domer said, “This special new show is the combined effort of the county’s Video Services team and Animal Control staff and volunteers, who do a great job showcasing shelter animals and encouraging adoptions.”
That’s pretty good timing, considering that there were 23 new additions to the animal shelter yesterday that are hopefully all adoptable.

Did you see on the news yesterday about the young man that found 10 small dogs that were out in the cold? Apparently whoever had them dumped them outside and they spent the night in the freezing weather. One dog was curled up into a ball and when the guy picked him up, he didn’t move at all – remained as a ball. He called animal control and they got all of the dogs. They may be ready for adoption in 10 days.
Yeah, it’s so sad. I can’t believe someone would just dump them off. They found five more dogs too. That’s 28 now.

Wow, I hadn’t heard about the other dogs. I hope they fine the owner and dump his @ss in jail.
Thanks for the link.
Sadly, this happens all the time, just on a smaller scale. So please, everyone–spay or neuter! No matter how great your dog/cat/guinea pig is, pleeease do not plan to breed him or her–get ‘em fixed! There are countless animals that need homes. Not just dogs and cats, either. No need to support factory pet mills if you want a “pocket pet”-Small Angels rescue right in Frederick fosters guinea pigs, rats, chinchillas, mice, hamsters, gerbils, and degus.
