La Paz is the obvious deal breaker. Sheesh!

Yes, La Paz may put off more than a few participants.

Imagine…if the quality of La Paz’s food would ever equal its primo location. A match made in heaven!

A lot of Frederick foodies do not care much for Brewer’s Alley, and feel the entire Phil Bowers empire (Acacia, Isabella’s, Brewer’s Alley, and G Hunter’s) needs retooling. As the recession continues, I’m just glad we have lot of good, if not always great, choices.

I still love La Paz and went to Acacia Tuesday night and the food and service was excellent.

I don’t consider myself a “foodie”, as my tastes encompass Waffle House along with finer establishments. Brewer’s Alley is one of my Frederick favorites (I’ve always had excellent seafood and pizza there, though I did have undercooked meatloaf once).

As for Acacia, some friends and I tried it for the first time recently, for brunch. Unfortunately, every one of our dishes had some sort of problem. Wild mushroom omelets with no mushrooms, requesting a vegan option (which we had asked in advance whether they could accommodate) and only having variations of tofu suggested, that sort of stuff. I was really surprised, considering the reputation I’ve always heard for this place.

Kalidurga, I’m sorry to hear your brunch didn’t work out too well. I’ve never been to Acacia for brunch but it sounds like it was definitely an off day.

Liz, that’s what I chalked it up to. The rest of the missing-mushroom omelet was pretty tasty (though expensive!), so I’d certainly be willing to give them a second try one day.
