FSK Mall store going out of business

Hopefully this won’t be the beginning of a trend but I’m not real optimistic.  B Moss in FSK Mall has announced that it’s going out of business after 69 years.  From the FNP:

B. Moss, a women’s fashion store in FSK Mall, is going out of business. The company has announced it is filing bankruptcy.

A call to the company headquarters Tuesday was greeted with this phone message: “We regret to inform you our company is going out of business.”

The company issued this statement on its website: “With sad news and regret, the B. Moss Clothing Co. will be closing its doors after 69 years in business. We would like to thank each and every single one of our customers for your loyal support and dedication over the last 69 years! We cannot thank you enough for your support and your business.”

A B. Moss press release urged its customers to visit the store one last time to say goodbye.

The company is urging customers to take advantage of 50 percent off savings on all merchandise before its doors are closed.

50% off is awesome and all,  but what bothers me is that the store no longer accepts its own gift cards or store credit.  If you do have store credit or an unused gift card, you need to contact the company.

B. Moss is no longer accepting gift cards and merchandise store credits. Customers with pending gift cards and merchandise store credits should e-mail contactus@BMossclothing.com, and will receive a form to fill out in return.

Honestly, I haven’t been in FSK Mall in a long time.  Does anyone know of any other stores that are going out of business there?  Hopefully it won’t end up looking like the other mall.

Barnes and Noble really helps as an “anchor” for FSK Mall — otherwise, we wouldn’t have been going to that mall much. Nonetheless, it’s sad to see a store there go out of business. I was hoping a popular store (or stores) would replace Value City, not Value City Furniture. Is DSW still planning on opening in the other space that Value City vacated?

I am not surprised about B Moss. I used to love to shop there until I had one of the worst customer service moments of my life with a sales girl. After that I refused to go back in, no matter how cute the clothes in the window. I hope some stronger vendors realize the need in Frederick for more shopping choices. I had heard a rumor about Nordstrom moving in to town but I haven’t heard anything else lately.

As far as I know DSW is still coming althought I would have preferred Filene’s Basement.

At this point, the Who’s Who of retail have their eyes focused on Urbana, not Frederick, and what will eventually take hold in the former isn’t at all clear. Plus, the economy isn’t expected to improve much until 2010.

After doing some christmas shopping yesterday I stopped in to get some Tylenol at the CVS. They had a sign stating they were permanently closing this month also! I guess this is to make way for DSW?

    CVS is going too?

I noticed the sign at CVS last week, and the clerk who waited on me confirmed that they are closing. I think the date is 12/27, but I’m not positive on that.

Wow, that is very surprising. I would have picked other stores over CVS to close in the mall. That’s too bad. It’s very convenient.

It will be interesting to see how much FSK mall changes. This whole area is changing. Hopefully for the better.

I heard on the news today that a ton of stores are going belly up this season. Frankly there are too many stores out there. Our population cannot support ALL those stores unless we all want to go bankrupt, too.
