Fundraiser for Frederick Literacy Council

November 11, 2008
by Guy

Parents and educators know that a child’s first steps toward literacy start in the home at a very young age. To celebrate National Family Literacy Month in November, Dancing Bear Toys and Gifts, located at 12 North Market Street in Downtown Frederick, is partnering with the Literacy Council of Frederick County and offering a new product that promotes childhood literacy. The colorful Write Me a Story books by eeBoo are oversized with fun, themed stickers and lined pages. Children use the stickers—and their imagination–to tell a story and then have an adult help write it in the book. When they are finished, children can read the stories they created! Using Write Me a Story books, children as young as three can build and strengthen critical literacy skills. During November and December, Dancing Bear will feature four different versions of Write Me a Story for boys and girls of all interests. Fifteen percent of the proceeds from the Write Me a Story sales will support the Literacy Council of Frederick County.

Sounds like a great cause. Thanks for the tip PH. Find more about Dancing Bear Toys and The Literacy Council of Frederick County online.
