Gas is currently $2.92 at Costco. The first time I’ve seen it below three bucks in a looooong time.

Yeah, other places are lowering their prices too, although so far no one else is under$3.00.

Check out the list of lowest gas prices on the FNP website:

Costco’s $2.92 is great, but I’d suggest timing your visit to the pumps to avoid peak shopping hours, if possible. We spent a half hour in line (though we probably picked one of the slowest lines, behind people filling SUVs and additional gas cans they carried along).

Hey. I miss the big tree on W Patrick St (Golden Mile), at the intersection where Sunoco and Texaco are located. (I can’t think of the cross street..starts with a W…hmmm) Anyway, I’m not crazy, right? There WAS a huge beautiful tree in the middle/median there, right? I wonder why they cut it down?
    Sincerely,

I know what tree you are talking about. They cut it down? I wonder if it was getting in the way of people’s view or something. That was a magnificent old tree. I will have to remember to look next time I’m on 40.

Hmm, from Cheap Gas to….missing trees?

For now, Getgo is still cheaper if you have fuel perks.

As for the tree, I saw them cutting it down last fall. It saddened me as well. It was a perfectly healthy tree, so I can not imagine who would authorize it to be cut down or why.

The City of Frederick started cutting down those magnificent trees in the Golden Mile’s median many, many years ago. They left that one majestic specimen, which must have been 150 years old–dating back before John Greenleaf Whittier bopped through Frederick. It looked in good health, but it’s destruction is emblematic of the sense and sensibilities guiding Frederick’s future.

I sure hope that City officials had a good reason for taking that tree down. Besides the fact we should be going out of our way to preserve trees whenever possible, one wonders if scarce dollars and resources could have been put to better use by the City gov’t.

According to the FNP Lowest Gas website this morning, gas is under $2.00 at a few locations around town.
