September 2008 Events in Frederick County
It has felt like September, weatherwise, for the last couple weeks. But as August comes to an end and September is upon us, I’ve found a few events going on in September. As always, feel free to add to the list in the comments section.
Saturday, Septmeber 6th is First Saturday. This month’s theme is Around the World in 15 Blocks.
Go Around the World in Downtown Frederick! Enjoy international dance, music and activities from different countries and regions including Asia, Central South America, France, Germany and more! Also get your “passport” stamped at participating locations throughout downtown! Feel like a world traveler as you stroll beautifu Downtown Frederick!
Sunday, September 7th is Brazil Day, a FREE event in Baker Park.
Every Friday during the month of September, enjoy Music on the Terrace at the C. Burr Artz Public Library. No tickets or reservations are required and the music starts goes from 11:30AM-1:30PM. Bring your lunch!
The weekends of September 19th and 26th, head on up to Thurmont for the largest corn maze in Maryland at Winterbrook Farms. Times are Fridays at 6PM, Saturdays noon-10PM and Sundays, noon to 5PM.
The Great Frederick Fair runs from September 12-20 this year.
Summer’s Farm Fall Harvest Days are September 20-30, M-F, 3-6PM and 10-AM-6PM on the weekends.
September 18-20 is Frederick Fashion Week.
Frederick Fashion Week is back for the second year! Thursday September 18th an under 21 friendly “Back to School and Homecoming Looks ” fashion show will be held Thursday, September 18th from 8-11pm at The Temple Paul Mitchell Partner School.
Friday, September 19th and Saturday, September 20th fashion shows will be held from 7-11pm at the Frederick Arts Council Cultural Arts Center.
Head out to Middletown on September 27th for the Middletown Heritage Festival.

Don’t forget about “Kids are Heroes Day” at the FSK Mall on Saturday, September 6 from 10AM-4PM. Many heroes from the kidsareheroes.com website (one which promotes and showcases children doing special things in their community) will be there talking about what they do and collecting donations for different non-profits. There will be a recognition ceremony at 1PM as the mall will hand out awards to each hero. There will also be entertainment and other activities for all kids in attendance. Come out and spend a heart warming day showing your children how easy it is to become involved.
On Saturday, September 13th, Small Angels Rescue is holding their 1st Annual End-of-Summer BluesFest from 5-8 PM at Rose Hill Farm in Middletown. There will be live music by the Hard Swimmin’ Fish, food by Canapes Catering, and many chances to win great raffle prizes from regional businesses. Tickets are $10 (kids 7 and under free) and are on sale through smallangelsrescue.org/bluesfest until Monday, September 8th (advanced tickets only).
Please come out for a great time and for a great cause to benefit life-saving programs for small animals in the DC/Baltimore area!
