Went by jackons/westside and spoke with building owner about possible new restaurant moving in, he said that the previous owner did considerable damage to the bar downstairs and the kitchen when he left, so it will be sometime before the place is available for new business. That is really a shame if you ask me, that was a lovely bar and for him to act in such a childish manner just proves that whats been posted about the guy is true.

To set the record straight, the owner of Jacksons lost his liquor license because he didn't file the paper work to transfer ownership of the license from the previous owners. It was NOT the fault of some former employee as Joe mentioned in a previous blog. All anyone has to do is search the FNP archives and they can read for themselves why the liquor board pulled the license. To blame some employee for it is pathetic and only goes to show that the owner and his cohorts are children who can't take ownership. A side note the owner of Jacksons never really owned the business due to failure to pay the previous owner a balance due. Checking resident ownership it is still listed as Westside Cafe not jacksons. I applaude the Liquor board for the actions they took in the future owners should be aware that they are responsible for what they do and not blame employee's.

That is funny to hear about jacksons, the owner did nothing but bad mouth the former manager, guess we should have got both sides of the story. It is pretty clear now that Jacksons closed due to poor judgement on the owners part, well I guess all the people who believed the owner have egg and maybe something else on there face. My hat is off to the former manager for not taking the owner to court and WINNING, good job. Maybe the people who worked there who didn't support the guy should think twice about bashing somebody without knowing all the facts. But that's the real problem with kids these days, just don't want to listen. As for a chinese place don't we have 20 or so within a mile of market street?? What market street needs is more shops not restaurants, people come to frederick to shop and maybe get something to eat, but please frederick is just frederick, not the food capital of the mid-atlantic.

Could it be that the smoking ban is starting to show what restaurants will make and what places will not, jacksons was cool at least the bar was. The food was ok sometimes, just miss the sweet friday happy food the bar manager would put out, that dude knew how to keep customers happy, to bad the owner didn't listen to the one guy who knew what he was doing, no shocker that the placed didn't last after he left. The big question is what bar/restaurant will fail next, my money is on bushwallers, the place is always empty. I am happy to hear that Volt will be opening soon, been a long time since north market had a decent restaurant.

Gee I guess it wasn't the former manager that ran the place into the ground, only person to blame is the owner. I did hear that the reason for losing the liquor license had nothing to do with employee's, the owner just never did the paperwork to transfer the license, guess the guy had a tough time finding a dupe to sign on. Market street will be better off if that Owner doesn't come back (it's the second time for him, first was the Baltimore Seafood Company, which he ran out in the middle of night, leaving employees without pay and vendors holding the bag, and surprise surprise that his second venture failed in Frederick, this guy must think people in frederick are idiots, not to mention I did hear that the former Manager won his lawsuit so it would seem all the nasty talk the owner was doing was just that TALK! Anyone who worked there could tell you that the owner's paychecks always bounced, what kind of guy wants people to work for free and than get mad when they ask to be paid, a lesson that should have been learned with the Baltimore Seafood Company but obviously this time the owner of Jacksons will have to pay up and can't run and hide under a rock like he did last time
