Venuti's Update
2008 June 4
This discussion of Patrick’s Irish Pub and Restaurant moving into the space vacated by Venuti’s Ristorante got me wondering about the rumors that Venuti’s was planning to relocate. I checked their website and at the top of the page is this message:
Check Back Soon For More Details About Relocation!
Has anyone heard any rumors about where they plan to relocate?

i called way back when to make reservations and they told me they were closed and to look for them in a couple months over by the mall near where pargo’s used to be…
not sure..
So that also could be where Lonestar was????
The plot thickens….
What’s needed is a cold splash of reality: During its first couple years, Venuti’s was a B-level red-sauce Italian restaurant. Its menu had a few standout items, but not many. But when it shifted its focus away from Tuscany, changed chefs, and switched owners, the dining experience was decidedly mediocre its last couple years.
A reopened Venuti’s located near the old Pargo’s/Lone Star would get its clock cleaned by The Olive Garden. Not to say OO is good, which it isn’t, but a mediocre independent Italian restaurant located near an Italian-themed franchise with huge name recognition and customer loyalty, is going nowhere fast.
My mind was taking me to perhaps a new incarnation of Venuti’s where Luke’s used to be. Doubtful if they are looking to re-open as it was before. Just a thought.
I worked at this place for a few weeks in ’07 and was appalled by the way they operated. The roaches (teeny ones that were on the food & all over the tables) were out of control and old staffers said he was cutting $$ by hand spraying & not even very often. They literally picked them out of salads before serving. You were lucky if tp was in restrooms, forget any of us having soap. The place was filthy, food unpredictable and not very good at that. I was embarassed to be there, aside from pulling teeth to get paid. Let’s hope the family goes into another buiz that doesn’t include what others might eat.
Probably not the right thread but Red Robin is on hold in Frederick at the moment and they are definitly not going into Lonestar. AFI
The following tip comes from a FMO reader …
Rusty:
Where did you get that information as I heard from Red Robin corporate and they had planned on going in the old Lonestar.
I just contacted Red robin and am waiting on a response.
