June Events in Frederick County
June is almost upon us already which seems sort of hard to believe considering it’s only recently warmed up enough to feel like May! Here are a few things that I know of going on in the month of June. As always, feel free to add anything in comments that you know of that’s going on in town and in the county.
Wednesday, June 4th is Free Cookie day at the Kitchen Studio Cooking School. Chef Christine, of Frederick Foodie is launching her own gourmet cookie line. I’ve tasted them and man, are they delicious! Go on out and see for yourself!
The Summer Concert Series starts in June. This is a free musical event at the Baker Park bandshell on Sunday evenings in the summer. In lieu of an admission fee, attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food items to support the Frederick Food bank. All concerts start at 7PM. Here’s the complete concert schedule.
Also free with a non-perishable food donation is Summerfest Family Theatre in Baker Park. These are family friendly shows held on Saturdays at 6PM. This year’s first show is on June 7th and features Milkshake (Music). Here’s the complete schedule. (Even though the website says 2007, these dates are for 2008).
June 7th is First Saturday. June’s theme is I ART Downtown Frederick.
Linganore Winecellars is Jazzed in June on June 21st and 22nd.
The Frederick Keys are home for several days in June.
Wine down Fridays are at Elk Run Vineyards every Friday evening in June from 6-9PM. Here’s their June schedule of events.
June 21st at the Carroll Creek Linear Park is the EcoArt Challenge and Sustainable Frederick Festival.
The environment will be front and center at this all-day event along Carroll Creek. An art show and contest featuring recycled materials will take place, along with music, demonstrations, food, and displays from environmental organizations encouraging a “green” Frederick. The purpose of this event is to hold a grassroots community wide celebration that will educate and promote environmental awareness, both locally and globally, and offer practical solutions and resources for taking action. The event is sponsored by the Frederick Arts Council, My Organic Market and BP Solar. The festival runs from 12:00-8:30 p.m.
There are two shows in June for Alive @ Five. June 12th features Jah Works, a Roots-Reggae band and June 26th is a jazz/funk fusion band called Junk.
Speaking of Alive @ Five, we’ve decided on the June 26th show for our Frederick Maryland Online Meet and Greet event. Mark your calendars! More details to follow!
For a more complete list of events in June, check out the calendar of events on the Frederick Tourism website.
Happy June everyone!
UPDATE: Dani at Tots2Teens has also put together a listing of family fun in and around Frederick taking place in June. Thanks, Guy.

The annual Frederick Festival of the Arts is June 7th and 8th.
Cygnus, you beat me to it!
There’s also the 72 Play Fest, which I expect will be a REALLY fun time.
I would love to attend the 26 June get together, but will be heading out of town for a few days. Next time!

Wisteria Lane has nothing on the town of Windsor! Mischievous housewives, jealous husbands, young lovers, a dueling Parson, a mad Frenchman, and the hugely fat and cowardly knight that everyone loves to hate! The original perfect suburb has more secrets, more insanity, and more hijinx than anyone could believe. Shakespeare has never been sillier! Join the Maryland Shakespeare Festival on its journey to Windsor where a small town cavorts, sneaks, giggles, and howls its way to true love, happy endings, and a lesson that Sir John Falstaff will never forget!
The Linganore winery is also having a Murder Mystery dinner (catered by Macaroni Grill) on June 7th & 8th, complete with wine tasting. Tickets may or may not still be available — $65 for adults.

Just got a postcard in mail yesterday. There will be a “girls night out” Progressive Party in New Market on Saturday, June 7th. I gave the post card to a friend who is going with me, but some of the participating businesses were: Mealy’s, Barefoot Boutique, The Pottery Shop, Spoil Me Rotten. There were about 12 of them.
Hop from shop to shop, sampling food and possibly wine along the way. 4pm – 7pm.
72 Play Fest Launch Party is tomorrow night. It’s free and open to the public. For those unfamiliar- there will be a free Improv performance by members of Comedy Pigs and Washington Improv Theater among others. Through this performance and audience participation we will be figuring out the criteria that the teams must include in their plays that are created in only 72 hours. Those plays go on for the first time this weekend.
7-9pm at Cultural Arts Center 15 W Patrick St.
