New Shopping Center in Hagerstown
The Herald-Mail is reporting the potential start of a new shopping center at the junction of I-70 and Rt 40 in Washington County.
According to the article:
The site plan shows the office space would be to the east of the shopping center, which would include several retail shops, a cinema, restaurants and a hotel
Maybe the solution to our Shopping Mall problem lies to the North?

I am award of this plan by Faison. http://www.faison.com It was to be called Beaver Creek Plaza and now is it to be called Hagerstown Gateway. This is the same firm that is developing Clemson Corner where Wegmans, Lowe’s and Marshall’s are to go.

I stand corrected, this is yet another one up there. What in the world is happening in Frederick? There is much more money and people here. The only thing I can think of is that there is not enough open land inf the Frederick area that has proper interchanges. I am referring to shopping center developments planned along Rte 15 and Monocacy Blvd.

I do not understand what is taking so long for the shopping centers along Rt 26. I for one, am very anxious for shopping on the north side of town and wish they would start building.

There is also the shopping center across the street from where Wegman’s is suppose to go. I really hope a Target goes in there.

Well, it could be a Target or Best buy and Borders. I have scene both scenarios.

As I’d noted in a previous post, I was surprised to discover the shopping opportunities that Hagerstown now offers…especially compared to how things have been limping along in Frederick. (Though I’m pleased–for the most part–with what’s happening in the Westview area.) No wonder my co-workers from Hagerstown haven’t felt the need to “cross the mountain” very often to go shopping.
Maybe because Target, Best Buy, and Borders are already very convenient to me, I personally can’t get excited about the prospects of others opening. But I’m very curious about Wegman’s and think it would be a good addition to this area. Can’t wait to check it out. (Especially since I can’t have a Trader Joe’s up this way.)

Lordy-lordy, how much more shopping do we need?

I do know if they dont get the lanes and construction completed by the mall now I wont be going back anytime soon. When you turn off into the mall off of the main road by sheets where there are two lanes (one goes straight and one goes RIGHT behind the mall - Not RIGHT GOES STRAIGHT TOO) - is a really big turn off. I have witnessed half a dozen if not more people that cut people off there. Also the new “temporary” lanes by penny’s at the stop sign have confused people too. It makes me nervous to go there now adays!

Becky, I agree about the mess around FSK. Everyone I talk to hates going through that area. It sure doesn’t encourage patronage of FSK and has been a turn-off for me.

Hagerstown draws people from as far north as Chambersburg and as far south as Martinsburg or even Winchester. I think that’s the crowd these folks are going after, not just in the Hub City itself.
