Becoming a recent member of Point of Rocks Garden Club - seems gardeners have similar goals in enjoying the outdoor life and want to share it with anyone that has the same interests. Potomac Farms Nursery is a great place for most everything - Ballenger Crk & Manor Wds. Friendly Staff. Another Fav is Thanksgiving Farms on Rt. 85 so. of Buckeystown. They have very wide and unique variety of plants and a great gift shop - they can be a little pricey, at least in the past. Here Comes the Sun! Wow – that is great news about Freecycle. Thanks for sharing a great story about this wonderful community. I had a similar experience when I moved in to our current house and was disappointed that there were no real flowers planted here. I mentioned it to some clients and next thing I knew, I had garbage bags full of plants from people thinning their gardens. It would have cost me a fortune to buy them all. Very cool Jessica! I received hundreds of dollars worth of plants from local growers who either wanted to thin their plots out or were ready for something new and gave me their whole plants (for FREE!). Same thing goes for the 25 indoor plants & trees I have at my acupuncture clinic: all donated through the generosity of Freecycle Friends. I love knowing the personal stories behind my plants, and feeling this community's connections growing right inside my clinic... I posted a “WANTED” for plants on the Frederick Freecycle community last fall and was inundated with local gardeners’ offers to fill garden beds around my condo.
