Pangaea Frederick

February 25, 2008 · 11 Comments

There’s now a call out for vendors to participate in a new festival to be held on May 10th. It’s called the Pangaea Festival.

Pangaea Frederick – A Festival Celebrating our Heritage will celebrate the many wonderful nationalities that make up Frederick. The Pangaea Frederick Committee is currently seeking merchandise and food vendors to participate. The hope is to showcase the best, most authentic food and merchandise from as many cultures as possible. All applications will be juried by the Pangaea Frederick Food and Merchandise Committees. For an application, please contact Amy Riley at 301-600-2845 or ariley@cityoffrederick.com. Applications will be accepted until all space is filled.

The Festival will be held on Saturday, May 10th from 11 a.m until 6 p.m at the West Ridge Square Shopping Center on West Patrick Street, Golden Mile in Frederick. The Word “Pangaea” is Greek and refers to the super-continent that existed about 250 million years ago, before each of the continents was separated into their current configuration. The word itself represents a uniting of many different cultures, much like how Celebrate Frederick envisions this year’s first annual event!

The festival is a new event being put on by Celebrate Frederick, an organization that plans and implements special events in Frederick. Other well known events put on by Celebrate Frederick are, among many others, the Summer Concert Series, Frederick’s 4th, In the Street and the Kris Kringle Holiday Procession.

Just for grins, what is your heritage?  I am 50% Finnish, the other 50% is a blend of English, Irish and Scottish.
