Park Band Shell Getting a Facelift
I read an article in the December issue of Frederick Magazine that the Baker Park Band Shell is going to undergo a renovation that will hopefully be complete by the Summer Concert Series in 2008. So far, over $100,000 have been raised through the members of the Rotary Club of Carroll Creek for the renovations that will include:
…wings to accommodate more seating, bathrooms, dressing rooms for performers, a soundstage, and an overhaul of the interior and exterior surfaces.
The original idea for the renovations came from the Friends of Baker Park, who then asked the Rotary Club for help to raise money. Hopefully once the band shell is complete, the park will be able to attract more and varied performers to our city. I always thought the band shell looked a little out of place in the park, next to the Talley Rec Center and the park’s Carillon Bell. I’m looking forward to the changes!
