December 2007 Events in Frederick County
It’s hard to believe November is almost over and we are heading into December already. December is a busy month for everybody, what with all the shopping and holiday partying, but there’s more to do throughout the month. Here’s a sampling:
The Maryland Christmas Show wraps up it’s final weekend on December 1st and 2nd at the Frederick Fairgrounds.
This event sounds pretty intriguing. The Frederick Wine Trail is a tour through all of the Wineries located in our county, with special events at each one. Over the 1st and the 2nd of the month between 1 and 5PM, all the wineries will have a special collector’s label Wine Trail wine.
On December 7th-9th, Maryland Regional Ballet presents The Nutcracker ballet at the Weinberg Center. Shows are at 8PM on the 7th and 8th and 2PM on the 8th and 9th. Also at the Weinberg is the Messiah Sing-along on December 18th at 8PM.
December 8th and 9th is Children’s Weekend in downtown Frederick. Events include breakfast with Santa, ornament painting and storytelling.
December 31st is the Family New Year’s Eve Celebration at Adventure Park in New Market. Attractions include golf, laser tag, Go-Karts, arcade games and paint ball. This event starts at 8:30PM and goes until 12:30AM.
Also on New Year’s Eve, there is the Hooray For Hollywood Gala at the Weinberg Center.
For a more complete list of events during the month of December, visit the Frederick tourism’s website calendar of events. And as always, feel free to add any other events in the comments section.
(And don’t forget about those Frederick Gift Cards for those hard-to-buy-for people on your holiday lists!)

It’s not in Frederick County, but I really love heading over the county line to Sharpsburg each December for the Antietam Memorial Illumination: http://www.nps.gov/anti/planyourvisit/luminary.htm
Very beautiful and moving. Just make sure you go to the bathroom before you get to Boonsboro…
Did anyone got to the christmas show last weekend? The last couple years the items havent been great. Its becoming more commercial then homemade crafts like it used to be. Just curious how it was this year.
I was very disappointed with the Christmas show and will not be going back next year.
For a wonderful family holiday treat, consider seeing A Christmas Carol at the Weinberg Center, Dec. 14-16. You won’t be disappointed!
