Home for the Holidays
I received an e-mail from Patricia H. asking for a little help in trying to find a home for some rabbits. So if you interested here is the info …
Two Gentleman Rabbits seek a home for the holidays.
Most people don’t realize that Frederick County Animal Control is normally a high volume shelter for rabbits. Currently there are two rabbits who have been there a long time still looking for that right someone or family to give them a home. House rabbits make delightful habits and great friends for the right person or family. Rabbits can be litter-box trained better than cats and can also be known to be meticulous. Rabbits must be adopted to indoor homes only and adopters should inquire about purchasing suitable housing and care items.

SHADOW
Shadow is a laid back, adult, neutered male rabbit. He is happy to have you pet him. In his shelter cage, he lays against the bars and people often stick their fingers in to pet him as they walk by. He enjoys this and it is this encounter with him which often makes people stop and discuss the possibility of getting a rabbit, but then they always walk away. He has been there for almost three months.
Shadow’s is a handsome rabbit gentleman who really does enjoy people and hustle and bustle. Shadow has a lot to offer a nice home if they will only treat him like a bunny and not a toy and that must be an indoor home.
SMORES
Smores is a Himalayan dwarf only 4 months old. His original owners only kept him two months and that is not enough time to discover the joys of having a bunny. Smores is afraid of dogs and probably shouldn’t live with them again unless they are very good with other animals. He is a wonderful bunny but after spending half his life in the shelter, they moved him! He is very upset and is acting out. I am going to request he be moved back to the cage he considers his home. Smores is on the large side for a dwarf but he is still small. He should go in a cage or pen or dog crate for a medium-sized dog. Although he is not that big, he is still a bunny and needs room to hop and dance and thump! He needs a patient and understanding person with no dogs.

~Guy~

I hope these little guys find forever homes. I adopted 3 rabbits from the shelter on Rosemont Ave. a few years ago, and they’re wonderful. I love them too much! I’ll never get a pet from a pet store or breeder again. There are too many homeless animals out there. Here’s hoping that Smores and Shadow have as good luck as my Pockets, Niblet and Elliot did.
I wish I could take them home, but our dog would eat them
*sob*
Shadow has gone home. Now Smores needs to get out of there! He cries now when he gets stressed and I pick him up and hold him and then he’s ok. He would make such a great addition to a nice, calm family…
Great news! Hopefully smores finds a home soon.
Smores is going home Saturday! Yeah!
Great news!
I really hope that they get a nice home……. they both are soooooooooooo cute!
