A co-worker who moonlights (or moonlighted) at the Columbia Lone Star told me today that it suddenly closed up shop sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning. Apparently, quite a few employees who were displaced from the Frederick Lone Star were working over there.

According to this article, all but one of Lone Star's locations in Florida are now closed, and that apparently also occurred on Sunday night. From the article:

. . . a private equity firm purchased the company a couple of years ago and is now making strategic marketing decisions. . . . a total of 27 locations were closed, leaving 152 open, scattered around the nation.

There's a "For Lease" sign on the old Lonestar now. I hope something good moves in there.

I agree 100% about the need for a road between Rt. 85 and Rt. 355. Would save everyone a lot of time.

The Lonestar website doesn't currently list a Frederick location, so it looks like it's definitely gone. Shame really, I always had good food and good service there.

Red Robin has been looking around FSK Mall for a location. Maybe they will take over the spot left by Lone Star.

I wish they would make a road between Rt85 and Rt 355 on the other side of 270 from the mall. (parallelling 270) That would allow traffic going to Target and Rt 355 shops to avoid the mall traffic all together.

I was there last friday at lunch and the place was PACKED. The first problem now is to get the people to realize that the right lane that goes in behind the mall turns left only not straight through into the other lane. And hopefully once the construction is done there will be enough room adn space for a right turn lane and a straight through at the stop sign. People now sit right in teh middle and wont allow people turning right throught.

Also I am kinda confused why they put in another entrance right past the stop sign. Will there be another stop sign there to sit through?

I was temporarily transferred to FSK about 6 years ago and I remember there being construction around the mall - it was confusing then. I've recently moved up to Frederick and to find the construction STILL going on absolutely amazes me. Its a nightmare to get through there; I'd like to believe it'll be done by Black Friday. How many construction workers does it take to roll out some asphalt? Just one with nine others staring.

I'm sure the new light in front of Holiday Inn Express will have traffic backed up on to 85.

Looks like they will have the entire project done just in time for the masses of Christmas shoppers returning their gifts in early January.

The slow, spotty, half-a**ed paving job is basically emblematic of FSK Mall itself.
