New Ice Cream Shop in Urbana
The Painted Cone, (site is still under construction {*updated website info below}, but I thought I’d throw it in for future reference), a new ice cream shop opened in Urbana about two weeks ago. But it’s more than just an ice cream store. It’s also a pottery painting store.
Owner Sean Gamage opened the store two weeks ago. The reason Gamage and his wife, Sarah, chose this kind of business was because they know teens in the Urbana, Ijamsville and Green Valley areas don’t have a lot to do.
Patrons can hold birthday parties, ladies night out parties, or any other kind of party packages. Plus, the cream is from a Maryland farm, Kilby Cream, in Rising Sun, Maryland.
Gamage said he buys the ice cream from Kilby Cream, a farm in Rising Sun.
“There are no preservatives in it,” he said. “It’s a very rich ice cream.”
The Painted Cone is located around the corner from Giant across from the new library.
*UPDATE 2/22/08: Here’s their new website: The Painted Cone

Oh good! I go to all the new ice cream joints when they open. I have gotten so chubby.
I am all about Ice Cream…Thanks for the heads up Liz… Not so sure about the pottery part, hopefully it’s not close to the ice cream section. (that whole break it you buy it theory)
There’s now a Dunkin’ Donuts open in Urbana, down the strip from Foster’s Grille. I think it opened last week.
I do like some DuDo coffee. I may have to visit on the way to work one day.
