A Trip Down the Road

If you work in MoCo (like me) or are a regular visitor of our neighbors to the south then this info about some new restaurants in the Rockville Town Square may be of interest to you.

This week sees the opening of a branch of the Tex Mex chain Austin Grill (36A Maryland Ave.; 301-838-4281) and a self-serve cafe version of DC’s homegrown Lebanese Taverna (115 Gibbs St.; 301-309-8681). Earlier this summer, tapas-oriented La Tasca (141 Gibbs St.; 301-279-7011), New American steakhouse Greystone Grill (33-C Maryland Ave.; 240-430-4739) and stylish Sushi Damo (36-G Maryland Ave.; 301-340-8010) from the owners of NYC’s Sushi Damo Damo opened their doors.

By the fall, Oro Pomodoro from Savino Racine (Primi Piatti) will be dazzling visitors with its white-marble-and-dark-wood bar/lounge, its of-the-moment pizzas baked in a unique wood-burning oven and a wide antipasti selection including house-cured charcuterie. And Taste of Saigon plans to relocate to Rockville Town Square (20-A Maryland Ave.) with new Indo-French menu choices.

Mmmmmm … Lebanese Taverna. This news comes via the Zagat Buzz.

I stumbled onto your blog looking for restaurants in Frederick yesterday. I live near Frederick and my husband and I are trying to find all the good places to eat. (We ended up at La Paz last night, meh). I’m looking forward to reading more about the goings on around town.

“Mmmmm… Lebanese Taverna.” <– No kidding. I really, really wish they’d open a location somewhere between Rockville and Frederick. Their vegetarian mezze is mouth-wateringly good.
