Cafe 611?
I got my new, blue Valpak envelope in the the mail the other day and I noticed coupons for a buy-one-get-one free lunch and a half price dinner at a new place called Cafe 611. I couldn’t find anything on the internet (it may be too new) but the ad on the coupon says it’s casual, American food with a full service bar, happy hour specials, banquet rooms and wireless internet. They also have karaoke on Tuesday and Friday evenings and other nightly entertainment.
Has anyone been yet who would like to comment on this new place? Is this where the Uptown used to be?

Yup, 611 n market is uptown’s old address.
I was at the head shop beside That Cuban Place and saw a flyer about a reggae concert that will be at that place….let’s just say it looked interesting…
It has a myspace here: http://www.myspace.com/cafe611
I know that some people from Hood College are also planning things there for people ages 16-20… Trying to have nights for high school and college students. Stuff about them, and some more info about Cafe 611, is here: http://www.myspace.com/prettystylish
I haven’t personally gone yet, just driven by to see what it was
Havent been there yet but they were at the Taste of Frederick and the Buffalo Wings were amazing! Best in Frederick I’ve had by far.
Hmmm, interesting! I’m always up for some good Buffalo wings! Thanks for the comments everyone!!
Cass, that myspace page scares me a little bit!
I get the impression that all they did was change the name.
I got that coupon too!…….My Boyfriend and I went for lunch, we got crabcakes! You can definatly tell their are new owners. We went at lunch so there was no intertainment, but they had lots of different flyers for a variety of entertainment, i am gonna have to check it out and let you know how it is.
Oh and liz, what is scary about MySpace?
Bethann, I didn’t say MySpace was scary. I said that Cafe 611′s page scared me a bit. Maybe I’m just too old for who they are trying to attract, that’s all.
Liz,
I understand, myself i am older too and i am not a big myspace fan. I think that they are just trying to get the word out to all different crowds. I dont know if your a jazz fan, but i did see that they are having “Live Jazz” on fridays, we are goin to check it out, maybe you should too. Have you been there? I sure didnt know that it was sooo big!
No, I haven’t been there, although I do remember hearing that it was a large place.
Maybe I’ll have to check it out!
I went there on on Friday, 8/3 and they had a live band by the name of “Styles”. They were great! They had a mature crowd and everyone looked like they were having a great time!
Thanks for letting us know, Prudy.
yes this is the only uptown, but the food and the atmosphere has improved, the honey barbeque wings are off the hook!! and I also was there the night style performed and they were great!!A good atmosphere…strictly for the grown and sexy, I hope it stays like that.
“Grown and sexy”! I like that description!! Glad to hear you had a good time!
the crab cakes and club sandwich are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!! There website is up and looks goood! http://www.cafe611.com
I wish the Jones Family the best of luck!!!
cafe 611 is great i love to go there it is very layed back.
There’s a lot going on at the Cafe these days. Check out their site for upcoming events, as well as their great menu…totally cheaper than most of the restaurants Downtown. And you guys are right, the wings are too die for!!! Enjoy.
The Star Spangled Big Band of Frederick has and will be preforming there on the first Thursday of the month. We play tunes from the 30s and 40s with a 18 member band and three singers. We start at 7:30 with swing dancers doing there thing.
I haven’t been there yet…and I’m not so sure if I’ll ever go now. I tried to get tickets for the Marcus Johnson concert, and they flat out refused to sell any tickets. My sister called to get the tickets, and the man she spoke with on the phone said that two local businesses had purchased large blocks of tickets, so they weren’t going to sell anymore tickets in advance, he said we would have to buy them at the door. Their website says the tickets were “$15 in advance/ more at the door”. It doesn’t say anything about “limited quantities” of “advanced sales” tickets, it looks like they just need $5 more from John Q. Public.
I emailed them about this, and I got no reply.
I see that Marcus is playing their club six more times this year. Maybe they’ll just charge $20 a ticket and sell them all until they are sold out, giving everybody a fair chance to see the show.
As luck would have it, Marcus Johnson is playing Charlestown Races the end of this month. They’ll get my business. Unless of course they advertise that they are selling tickets, and then decide NOT to sell tickets, and scalp me $5 more for them later.
I like Marcus Johnson, but I don’t think I want to stand in the rain for a ticket that might not even be available when I get to the front, and if I do, pay $5 more for a ticket that is advertised as available right now…that should be illegal.
What a terrible way to treat customers.
Check out the Star Spangled Big Band at Cafe 611. They play there the first and third Thursday of every month now and they are pretty great. It’s the fun BIG BAND stuff from the 30′s,40′s but it is for everyone. There is free dancing lessons from 6:30-7:30 – swing type dancing – very cool and fun. The band plays from 7:30 till about 10:30 and they draw a great crowd. Fun and people of all ages. The food has been great and the service continues to get faster. Enjoy!
I live in Hagerstown but I drive to frederick twice a week to visit Cafe 611. Their food is great, and the atmosphere is excellent. I would reccomend this resaurant for everyone. Also the it is very enjoyable and laid back in the evening I have been there on several ocassions.
