Summer’s Farm Fall for All Festival
A regular FredNet readerwanted to share her experience at a local pumpkin patch …
Summer’s farm, off of Butterfly Lane in Frederick, offers a number of fun activities for their 10th Annual Fall-For-All Festival which makes the admission price worth it ($7 for anyone older than 2). My family and I went again this year with some friends and we all enjoyed our day. We spent 4 hours there and easily could have spent more time. They have giant slides (so much fun!), straw mountains, mazes for the kids, a tee pee, pony rides, kids corral, rubber duck races, a pumpkin train, pig races, and a huge cornfield maze. Although the maze is harder than it looks, we had six adults in our group and we couldn’t find our way out! There is also a country market and apple cider. We took a hayride out to pick out our own pumpkins, of all different sizes, and I even got a lot of photo ops! You can take the hayride without paying admission. Be sure to check their Web site for the details and coupons. We took our daughter last year, when she was one, and really enjoyed pulling her around in her red wagon (despite all the hills), this year our friends had their girls in strollers and it was much harder to push them around in their strollers. There are a number of different farms in the area, learn more about some of them at Frederick Farms.
Pumpkin hunting sounds like a great thing to do this weekend. Thanks for the report JM!
The granddaddy of all craft shows, Catoctin Colorfest, is also this weekend. Check out my wife’s review of Colorfest from a few years ago.
If you are a bargain hunter then you will want to stop by my hood for our community yard sale.
Do you know some other fun events happening this weekend? If so, leave a comment.

Just so you know, this Sunday the 29th at 1pm the Eat Local Challenge- Frederick group is hosting a potluck luncheon featuring local foods! Everyone is welcome!
